Don't hold your breath. The Queen machine is primarily about one thing. Milking as much as possible from the hits and the original albums. And they don't care how they do it. They will gladly be hypocrites - e.g. creating a musical that slags off manufactured music and then using X Factor to promote their Absolute Greatest album. Or how about Roger writing a song "Dear Mr. Murdoch" slagging off Rupert Murdoch and then using Murdoch's paper The Sun to give away CDs to promote the musical. Unfortunately the Queen I became a fan of died in 1991 and everything that has followed has been strictly for shifting units with no artistic input and no concern for the wishes of the long standing fans that suppoted them in the early years. At the end of the day they could release a box set of the rare stuff we would love to hear. It wouldn't be a best seller and would probabley lose money. But that would be nothing to the fortunes thay have amassed. Also it would be a loss-leader - lose a little financially and regain the respect and goodwill from thousands of Queen fans that, at the moment, regard Queen as little more than a nasty little money grabbing outfit.

Well said, Just speculation, but I get the feeling Roger has taken a back seat for the last few years, letting the record company and Brian take care of most of the promoting, marketing, merchandise and sales.
The quality Dropped when John retired, a lot of the stuff that came out when he was still a living partner was up to a pretty good standard. Then things kind of stagnated, special features on DVD got worse, more greatest hits were re-re-released, we will rock you opened, now queen have become “The brand”, The decisions the band made were much better as a trio.
It might just be that Roger keep quiet about these things and Brian doesn't.

Er... no, Roger went around the country to promote Absolute Greatest, appeared on telly, etc... Brian's the one who did less on that one.

I should really check these things before posting, Still doesn't change the fact that they were better as a trio.

We for years fed breakfasts they promises to us box set. But the years pass, and nothing but constant reissues and multiple replication of the same material. The fact that Queen goes away to a new record company is unlikely to change the situation.

They sure will open the archive with Universal sooner or later. Cause that archive is the reason, why Universal took them under contract. And Queen kept the archive locked, when the situation with EMI became worse and worse, the writing was on the wall.
It's business and it's about making money - always was, even in the days when Freddie was still around.

wait and see

That is , you want to say that Brian and Roger have signed a contract with Universal in the hope that the company will release whole archive?

Ah.. i'm glad there are twenty of us up here who still want that damn archival material ;)
Kinda puts the pressure on them!

Greg is probably working on a real Christmas box set. Large boxes, small boxes, boxes with bows on the top, others with little sprigs of holly.

Why not address comments to Brian or Queen's management instead of wasting time complaining to the wrong person or complaining about it here? People who complain to the wrong person are really not wanting to be heard, I think.
