Anyone here collect coins?

I've got a Roman Aurelean coin from 270-275 AD, a South Korean coin, a Russian coin, some Mexican coins, a silver dollar coin, and a bunch of different pennies.

i have moroccan dirhams, british pence and pounds, cayman dollars, a venezuelan penny, bahaimian penny, some philipino coins (dad collected in the navy) and canadian coins (not uncommon in upstate ny) and euros from various countries in europe.

and a schilling from the late 1800s

I have one Russian coin from XVIIIth century, four from XIX, one silver coin from 1924 year.

I also have a lot of Russian/Soviet/again Russian coins from throughout Twentieth century, because I'm living in Russia.

I also have a lot of coins from various countries from mid/end of XX century. I have coins from Grece, Tanzania, Shri Lanka, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, France, Spain, Bulgaria, UK, West Germany, Czechoslovakia, Mongolia, Singapore, Netherlandes, Hungary, Ireland, Burma, Morocco, Romania, Cyprus, Ukraine, Poland, and probably from somewhere else.

I used to collect silver D-Mark coins which were released on special occasions. I stopped collecting when the Euro came and the edition was not so limited as it used to be. I still have my collection and like looking at them:-)

I just got 34 Egyptian coins for only $7.94

About the only coins I ever intentionally collect are the sixpence coins, and even then only for use as guitar plectrums.
I do tend to come across some interesting foreign coins from time to time from places like work, or given to me by friends who've no use for them.

I do admit, I like to look at some of the more pricey coins at collector shops - some of them have awesome designs.

I have rare coins but they were collected probably by my nan or my mom, not by me. 

There are Ukrainian, Russian and USSR coins and maybe some from other countries too. I have coins that are more than 100 years old!

I also used to collect coins. I had loads and loads of coins.

Besides roman empire coins the oldest I had were from the 18th century. I also had strange World War 2 items such as food stamps and dutch coins made from zinc.

I've got two sets of uncircularised UK coins, one from 97 I think when the portrait of the Queen changed and from a few years ago when the front designs changed to the crest motif. Other than that I've got one of each of the BHM sixpences. And loads of old sixpences off my mum but they're used for playing!

I love collecting coins.  But only so I can spend them hehehe

Actually, I used to when I was a kid - I had lots of old British money, some US, Australian, some French, Spanish, Greek and maybe some Indian ones too.  But that was about 21 years ago so I can't remember exaftly what....

Does anyone in the UK remember the old ESSO football coin collections?  I remember having a full Scotland set from the 1990 World Cup and some Premiership ones as well.

Those were the days!

Oh, and some BM sixpences as well....

My mrs has actually got the used one from the WWRY Glasgow show from last week, but she won't let me add it to my collection!

Canada has pretty two dollars coins, or so I think.  A few years ago I went on a holiday to parts of the western US and South Korea. Before I left I went to the bank and got 20 brand new shiny 2 dollar coins and I gave them to various people I met along the way for fun, or for luck, to make them smile, as a souvenir of our brief meetings etc.  I wonder about those coins sometimes and where they ended up.   One little boy in California was adding it to his coin collection for sure I recall, and one older couple from Myanmar I met at the DMZ in South Korea were oddly but movingly overcome as they saw it as a good omen as their daughter was leaving them to go study in Canada.
