Hey, we get it man, you like Gregory Finsley lol. IMHO, you're over-promoting the guy, that's pretty much every thread you've mentioned it when you get the chance.
Gary Mullen is better, btw.

Thistleboy: And the singer from Dios Salve a La Reina is better than both Gregory and Gary. Gary sucks. He can't even play piano. At least Gregory plays piano.

I respect your opinion totally, but for me the guy from DSLR does not sound like Freddie. He looks freakily like him, but that's about it. And I've seen Gary play piano. Well, keyboard, but he still played it, and played it competently. Gregory Finsley is not great. Mullen is definitely the best I've ever heard, he just gets better and better with each year I see him.

He CAN play the piano, sometimes on stage he will mess around with the keyboard, I've seen him play the intro to BO rap and take over playing the keyboard during Jail house rock. But paying out for a grand piano, transporting it around, keeping it stored, cleaned and tuned, only to use it on 2 songs is stupid, also in some of the smaller venues it would be bulky and awkward. The main problem is, to do this stuff on the keyboard, he has to stand at the very back of the stage and play, someone hidden at the back, playing a Yamaha keyboard doesn’t have the same appeal as someone sat stage left at a grand piano. it kills the atmosphere, if it was a 70's style tribute where more time was spent at the piano it would be worth it, but a 86 style one where only 2 or 3 songs had freddie on piano isn't worth the extra money. Even pablo playing his Digital Piano doesn't have the same feel.

Gary Mullen is the absolute closest you are going to get to a Mid-80s Freddie. He's got his phrasing pretty much spot on, and his power is comparable. Plus his timbre kinda reminds you of a mid-80s Freddie. Finsley is stunning on all the 70s stuff that I've seen (he even hits the E6 in It's Late), and Finsley has a very strong head voice (which allows him to soar up into the 5th octave range easily). Dios is technically the worst of the 3 singers (he doesn't have the range, and his highest notes lack power), but his timbre is pretty similar.
No, Gary Mullen doesn't suck either (though I wish he would play the piano more).

Here's why I rank Gary Mullen highly: He's got Freddie's phrasing down to a tee on this song (like the "People On Streets" lines). Plus, those sustained A4s 1:32 and 1:53 are almost operatic in their delivery.

Freddie is in a class of his own.

If Gary could play piano, they why doesn't he play it on BoRhap or Champions or even Somebody to Love (which they have done before). Who said he had to have a grand piano. Why not just a simple keyboard like all the other tribute bands. The point is, you can't have a Freddie tribute without the person playing piano and singing at the same time on some songs.

One reason we like Gregory Finsley is his ability to bring more Testosterone to his performances and also the fact that he plays piano

already answered, someone sitting at a keyboard doesn't have the same impact as sitting at a grand piano, if you can't do it right don't do it at all. it's not worth paying out for a grand piano in a magic tour tribute, as there are only 2 or 3 songs freddie used it on. if a piano was a metaphore for freddies penis, pablo would be insulting freddie, running to that little digital keyboard is laughable.
If it was a 70's tribute, like gregs fantastic tribute then a piano is a must, any piano (or keyboard), as much more time is spent at the piano.
Oh and it's not "IF", he can play, at least to some extent.

Well you can, because there is.

wow... connoisseurs of tribute bands...
i still think tribute bands are kinda creepy... especially if the band survives in some form... (LA is rife with tribute bands) ....something about seeing some dude onstage sporting a Brian May wig and Freddie Mercury Unitard... is well, VERY disconcerting...
Just hit the stage as yourself... that'd be a far greater tribute than looking all silly like.
Just my opinion.
Notable exceptions: Tribute bands with a gimmick...
I.e. The Iron Maidens (female tribute band with EXCELLENT guitar, drum and bass work)...
anyways.. just my two cents... but seeing as its close by just a jump on the 118, i'll probably check it out.
