There's a new promo video for Queen in the Rock Band 3 videogame on the official Queen Youtube channel. It's a funny video, but I noticed something about the sound in the clip:

The mix sounds better than the stereo mixes I've heard, Roger's drums are more defined. It reminds me of the recent Hammersmith '75 broadcast with that great new powerful and natural drum sound. Am I hearing things?

Indeed, this is a new mix.  Good catch.  They've cleaned up the guitar a bit, too... compare 0:36 to any other version on youtube.

What a show of cunts. Couldn't be bothered remixing it for the DVD, that was supposed to be for the fans - suddenly have some money thrown at them by some game producers and they're there with their underpants round their ankles.

Oh not just that, not only were they arsed to go back to the Wembley multitracks for this, they were arsed to go back to that as well (along with the individual video angles for special processing/editing) to use Freddie's vox and piano for the 2005/06 Q+PR concerts!

That's always bothered me, actually...

*shrug*  It's not a significant enough improvement for me to lose sleep over.  To be honest I've never really dug the Live at Wembley sound.   My favourite concert DVD (sonically speaking) is still Concert for George.  I can't even guess how much of that was overdubs and I frankly don't care - the whole thing is art.

Fuck going back and remixing Wembley. We don't need anymore Live At Wembley 1986, Greatest Hits, Box Sets, etc...We need at least another concert released before we actually becoming old and die. I mean cmon. They said they were releasing Hammersmith 1975 for the holidays but that obviously never happened. Roger did say that we should be expecting a surprise for the 40th anniversary in 2011, so let's all hope it will be either some new concert footage, or one of the 70's concerts released. And what about all those great concerts just sitting there in the archives. THOSE are what the public needs to see, not a re-release of the albums in HD or "Absolute Greatest 2".

I know I've said this a lot, but Queen Productions really need to get their heads out of the dirt.

Ha.
The surprise Roger is talking about is that we will all be disappointed in the deluxe releases and in one voice will say; "Well. That's a fucking surprise"
Irony folks. Irony.
