Just tried to play my cd copy of this for the first time in ages and something bad has happened to the cds -- some really annoying interference in the sound which now makes both cds unlistenable. I've checked the Queenzone search engine and although this concert has been shared here before, either the links are now broken or it's a torrent, which I don't use. So could someone share this concert again in mediafire or rapidshare please? Thanks in anticipation.
Ah, good ol' disc rot. Never rely on CDRs, unless they're made in Japan. I've used them for over 10 years and they all still work perfectly.

They look fine, they just don't work they way they're supposed to. They were burnt about 11 years ago so maybe it was something to do with the burning process rather than the cd. tbh, my vinyl has aged much better than many of my "they last forever" cds.

Disc rot usually isn't a visual thing - it's a data thing. It's possible the burning process may have been flawed in some way, but most CDRs do die like this after about ten years (or the process can be accelerated by using those sticky disc labels). The only CDRs that have longevity are Japanese made, like Taiyo Yuden or Fujifilm. But even Fuji operate out of the Taiwan plant now, so you have to dig deep for the Japanese ones. Discs made in Taiwan and Korea are all crap. They're all the same disc with a different label on them.. pretty much like most products in the grocery store or wherever else.

Ahh okay, I see what you mean. I have one CD - an official Brian May cd single -- that has cracks and blisters all over it. I thought that's what you meant by disc rot. I must have a look through my older CDs and transfer some onto my harddisc.

Very good idea. Salvage what you can. These days it's so easy to backup to usb sticks and 1TB hard drives.

From my experience, hard disks can also fail. It is better to have many smaller hard disks and spread the data instead of keeping all in a 1TB hard disk.

Never buy 1TB drives from eBay. I bought 3 of them from 3 different Chinese people. 1 of them never sent the disc, and disappeared immediately after receiving my money, and the other 2 discs became unreadable within 2 weeks.
Fortunately the 3 discs I bought in normal stores still work
