No he didn't. About 7-8 years ago he said on his soapbox that they had the video feed. ===================================== We can argue about this all you want, "the video feed" is what WE all have, it Could have meant that it was the raw screen footage, but since then it's been made extremely clear, it’s the film of the screen.
====================================== He added that because the individual cameras were not actually recording, they couldn't edit the footage, and it was therefore not suitable for a release. All they had was what was sent to the screen live on the day. ====================================
Bingo, if it was the Raw screen feed it would be releasable, look at Montréal, they were unable to re-edit that. They have the video of the screen; the one that looks like it's infested with scabies, which is totally unreleasable.
It’s the same thing he’s always said, but now he’s learnt to word it better. The footage from the cameras wasn’t recorded; we only have the video feed of the screen.

Great catch with the In My Defence video. I have never seen the 0:08 segment. Where can I find the video in pre-YouTube quality, please ?

Hmm, I always thought that bit on 8th second is from Budapest from Tie Your Mother Down.

Video from "the screen" would show obvious videotape artifacts that are not present in any of the 'pro' stuff that has been seen in snippets. Two possibilities, here - Brian is telling the truth and the video was not recorded, OR the video was recorded and for some reason was never seen again by anyone.
Anyone who says otherwise is victim to their own wishful thinking. I understand and empathise, but it's ultimately a self defeating way to live your life.

"Within a fortnight the post was removed from his soapbox with no explaination. He was probably bombarded with email's demanding a release (I was one of them)! The next time Brian mentioned it, we got the 'nobody pressed record' story"
Bit of Occam's Razor, here - the simplest explanation is that Brian spoke out of turn, and deleted his earlier comments once he realised that he was wrong.

Definitely not. Freddie is dressed differently - compare it with this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgDsZ-TJ1PY

There were 2 different camera crews, and the pro-shot bits are from the DoRo footage. But still, some of the pro-shot bits "could" be from the first source - check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65kyfFIzigs from cca 0:20

Those are DoRo's bits and pieces, While I don’t think queen have anything worth watching from knebworth, DoRo clearly have a big Chunk of stuff, containing both front stage and behind the scenes footage, you'll notice Knebworth stuff is all from DoRo's archive footage videos.
If queen productions had anything from this night we would have seen some of it by now.
There's a possibility Doro had recorded a song or two from the screen feed, to use in the documentary that never surfaced, but this is just speculation, they may have just had a camera in the same area as the one for the screen.
unfortunately Queen don't seem interested in paying to get the stuff sorted out.

I'm sure at 100 per 100 about hammer to fall bits of the Freddie Tribute Disk 2. They come from the big sceen source. Queen have the ''big sceen concert'' in their achives, i'm sure. If they have more, it's a mystery.

Yes well spotted indeed Blackthorne!
If the video feed does exist even on a VHS tape, they could certainly clean up the quality with todays technology and combine it with the Doro stuff to make something presentable.
I think if they have some secret that they have been 'saving' for the right moment then this is the year to release it in some capacity (40th anniversary year, and August will ALSO be the 25th anniversary of the show itself ) otherwise we'll all die of old age first ....

One more observation about the Hammer to Fall clip (again sorry if this has been mentioned) - the PRO clip is slightly longer than the 'screen' version which suggests one of the following:
A: DoRo DO have the individual screen camera feeds
B: There were 2 camera's side by side both filming Freddie, with same zoom, one recorded by Doro and one going to the screen mix (far fetched I know).

B: isn't far fetched at all. I'm not sure which thread it was in, but someone was comparing the angles and they were slightly different. The giveaway was Roger Taylor doing the same thing at the same time, yet being in a different spot in each camera angle. They were clearly set up in a similar position, but it wasn't identical.
