If Family Guy actually qualifies (it's an adult cartoon based around mini-sketches) then it's my favourite. If not, it's The Inbetweeners. I also love Curb Your Enthusiasm and used to watch Married With Children a lot!

It's funny - I was so surprised at the content of the article, partly because to me it always seemed it was the men getting the shaft in those kinds of shows as they so often seem to be played as kind of bumbling and clueless people whom their wives endure more than anything else, that I poked around on the web a bit to get a sense if the thrust of the article was accurate. And I was truly shocked because apparently there's this whole...thing....out there that says that women taken as a whole are not funny. Like there are serious articles written in serious publications by serious writers called things like "Why Women Aren't Funny". Christopher Hitchens in Vanity Fair, for example.
There are even theories: the deadly serious task of childbirth and child rearing, not needing to be funny to attract a mate etc. etc. There was a study that was conducted that found that a significant majority of men are not attracted to women who are 'humour producers' but want instead women who are 'humour receivers' (ie laugh at their jokes). Somewhat in contrast to this idea, I bumped into one site that had an article written by a male about what men in general want in women that said "Wouldn't we just love it if we had a woman that could make us laugh? Yes! But unfortunately out-and-out funny women are as rare as they get ". There were follow up articles to the one I originally posted in the same publication driving home the theme that women are simply not as funny as men.
I'm not going to spend too much of my life thinking about it, but it just surprised me that I missed the entire meme in the first place. I simply had never noticed or perceived that in my own life, but then again I've never really been looking for it. I think there is a good argument that female stand up artists are not as funny as males in general, mostly because there is a coarseness and aggressiveness to that brand of humor that just doesn't sit on a woman as well, but the beliefs out there are much broader than that. I was genuinely kind of shocked.

I loved The Young Ones, Filthy Rich & Catflap and Bottom as well. Bottom was the better of the three. Can't stand Green Wing or Peep Show.
