"Fun it" live 1 feb 1979 in Cologne

Well i just listened to that concert for the first time today and to my surprise theres a bit of Fun It in the beginning of Keep Yourself Alive. Excellent surprise. Also it seems that Brian is playing some Black Sabbath near the end in Brighton Rock.

Am i right or does my copy of this concert have the wrong dates?

What do you think of those versions?

Freddie sang Fun It at plenty of Jazz tour shows, but I doubt your recording is mislabeled.  Cologne is a great show, although I haven't listened to it in years.  Which Sabbath tune do you hear?

Well i really cant put my finger on it but 11.25 in the song it starts of with something reminding me of "Princess of the Universe" (the bit where Freddie sings bring on the girls" and then at 11.40 (for just about 25 seconds) comes the bit where it reminds me of a Black Sabbath tune but i dont know wich one.
Anyway its just simple chords so maybe im wrong.

Well i found the song now. Its called "Warning" from their first album. A long tune but about 9.05 you can hear that short bit im talking about. Check the link

Agreed. It really reminds Princes Of The Universe and this bit of Black Sabbath's song.

There are several occasions, where you find in Brian May's guitar solo ideas and riffs, that reappeared in later songs.

Most interesting is his solo in the Houston show from 77. Within one minute he plays several motives, that turned up in their 80s songs.  
It starts with a very embryonic riff that became "Put out the Fire". Then he plays a line that later turned up in the solo of "Hammer to Fall". 20 seconds later he plays a riff which turned up again in "Kashoggis Ship" and then he comes up with a pattern that made the riff of "Hammer to fall".

you think the beginning of the Black Sabbath riffs could be some mutant form of dead on time?

Starting after "White Man" when Freddie begins with the "Prophet song" vocal harmonies it's appr. 8 minutes from there when Brian switches off his delay unit. And then he plays all those embryonic riffs....
