May Backs Residents' Protest Over Trump's Golf Course

QUEEN legend BRIAN MAY has thrown his support behind a campaign against DONALD TRUMP's controversial golf course resort in Scotland, insisting he's "disgusted" nearby residents may be forced to move out to make way for the venture.
The property tycoon-turned-TV personality faced years of setbacks over his plans to build the $1 billion-plus development in Aberdeen amid concerns the construction would damage sand dunes in the protected area.
He finally got the go-ahead by officials at Aberdeenshire Council and started building work last July (10), with an eye to completing the project by 2012.
But Trump is still facing angry protests from local residents over the threat of a compulsory purchase of four family homes nearby, one of which belongs to 86-year-old Molly Forbes.
May is supporting the campaign by giving protesters permission to use his band's classic song Bohemian Rhapsody in an anti-Trump video.
He says, "I can see there is a horrible example here of bullying the defenceless by a rich man who apparently can buy anything he wants. I deplore this kind of abuse and feel greatly for Molly and the others who are being ridden over by a very selfish man. And what the world certainly does not need is more golf courses. I am disgusted.
"I sincerely hope you will be able to stop this nasty project in its tracks and I will do what I can to bring it a little more out in the open. I'm happy to secure you permission to try this yourself (make a Bohemian Rhapsody video)."
Good for him - Donald Trump wants this remote bit of Scotland for his bloody golf course for his International jetset cronies. Much to the bemusement of a local farmer - who was digging his heels in and refusing to move out. DT apparently wants to 'acknowledge' his heritage by desecrating an unique area of headland and wildlife there. I think he should do it in his own back yard...

Well said. At the best of times, Golf is just a good walk wasted, but to resort to demolishing family homes in the process is bang out of order. I wish that eejit would just take his stupid hairdo and eff off. He can stick his golf balls up his shiter while he's at it.
Go Molly! And good for Brian, too.

Getting Brian May 'disgusted!' about something is kind of like being the best musician in Kiss. It's not hard to do, and it doesn't mean all that much. ;)

Always 2 sides to a story. The golf course would've offered employment opportunities to the local community, a meeting place for the locals, and presumably some business to local merchants. It would also increase tourism opportunities.

I think the most important issue is taking these people away from their family home.
BUT, it has just been on STV News that he has "ruled out" any move for a CPO.
Hope he sticks to it.

I dont understand why Trump doesn't just have the old lady killed. I remember a time when meglomaniacs weren't afraid to get there hands dirty in order to carry out there evil plans. When Idi Amin was king of Scotland he murdered millions of Highlanders when he hollowed out Ben Nevis and turned it into an underground base. Donald Trump is a poor excuse for a super-villain and I for one, wont be voting for him in the forthcoming bi-elections.
fatty.

The statement was pretty carefully worded I thought. He doesn't have to move for a CPO at all perhaps, as that's something local government can do on it's own. It seems the project in general has the support of the vast majority of the locals, and is going ahead regardless. Still, it's easy to identify with the protesters even though they're small in number. It goes right to the heart of fairness and personal property rights that we can likely all feel instinctively and viscerally.

If I could build anything I wanted to in the world without the collateral, go bankrupt twice, and kill a professional US football league on others money by going overbudget knowing it's the pipsqueek league, ..........oh, and btw..........build a course in Scotland that The Golf Channel would suck my d*ck over in spite of opposition and wetland regulations... well.....to heck with anyone. Sod you all.
