Apart From Queen, What Else Do We Collect?

After seeing the "does anyone collect coins?" thread, I got to thinking about the stuff I collect and was wondering, apart from the obvious answer of Queen, what you guys collect as well.

Music wise, I also collect what I can of The Beatles, Bowie and Pink Floyd - and even have all of Billy Joel's albums lol.

TV/ Movie wise, I'm not really into collecting films, but I do like collecting Star Trek (TOS) stuff, and have a load of figures, statues, costume cards and box-sets.  I also love Star Wars and have a similar collection of that, as well as the old Don Coscarelli film, Phantasm....oh, and a load of Family Guy related stuff, too.

As you can tell, I am also a Partick Thistle fan, and have programmes (the most famous being the 1971 cup final one V Celtic), signed footballs and many shirts.

And I also love autograph collecting, and have a lot of Star Trek ones, as well as guys like Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, and a load of WWE ones as well.

It's often been said I collect dust too haha

So what do YOU collect?

Appart from Queen the music i collect is two danish rockgroups called Gasolin' and Baal.
(Take a listen to Baal's first album "Sensorama" From 1996. It really reminds me of Queen. A mixture of Cabaret and Rock) (They also made a lot of music for theatre but basicly its a rock band. So is Gasolin' but they are from the 70's)

I also used to collect Spiderman magazines, but i think i have grown too old for that and havent collected in years.

I sort of collect The Simson complete seasons. Im not that entusiastic but i've reached season 11.

Here in Denmark our coins are called kroner. Often the 10 and 20 kroner are released with special motives. If i spot one i dont have i will take it to my collection.
What a great band!

I collect all kinds of music.  I used to collect buttons when I was a kid...I think you call them 'badges' in the UK, and perhaps elsewhere.  Lots of books. I don't collect ladybugs, exactly, but I like them and have some nice ladybug things.  I like them because my grandpa used to call me 'Bug' because I'd always be ambushing him with 50 million questions about everything.

I thought I'm the only Trekker here :-)

I used to collect stamps and (don't laugh) cans from various drinks :-)
I still collect various "collector editions" , both CDs and DVDs, that's why I'm so angry about Queen's "DeLuxe" editions of their albums. The funny thing is that I've never seen some of the movies I bought years ago, e.g. the special collectors edition of Schindler's list

Would it be fair to say you "don't need no steenking badges" any more? :)

I went through a bit of a weird period last year when I started buying ELO picture discs and coloured vinyl. I wonder was that my mid-life crisis? If so, it's been and gone and I don't even have a Harley Davidson to show for my efforts.

When I was younger I used to collect army badges and comics. I sold the former and the latter (around 1400 comics) is in a cupboard in my mother's house gathering dust. Maybe when my boy gets a little older he will appreciate the delights of 2000AD, Animal Man, Preacher, Hellbazer and the Swamp Thing.

Any idea on what the Swamp Thing comics are worth?  A book trader next to me has just aquired a collection of comics, (a load of Swamp Thing being in the batch) and asked me to find out their value.  I checked ebay, and they seemed to be selling for just a couple of quid, but I don't know if that's the going rate, or if they're being sold by someone who doesn't know what they've got?

There are at least 4 series of the Swamp Thing:

Early 1970s: The Swamp Thing (Len Wein & Berni Wrightson) -- all the early issues are expensive. However, there's not much of a market for them, so they're hard to shift.

Early 1980s: The Saga of the Swamp Thing -- very collectable early issues, especially the Alan Moore run. Later issues are worth very little.

The two series from the 2000-2010 era are virtually worthless.

It's 70s ones....shame they're hard to shift.

Well that's just a guess. It's been 6 years since I really paid any attention. There used to be some in my local comic shop and also in Forbidden Planet. They couldn't shift them, even when ST was popular. Maybe the market today is different. Had a quick look on Ebay which seems to confirm what I've said. Individual prices are a little expensive and there are no bids.

I've been an avid collector of Viz comics for many years. I have every issue from 22 onwards and I have an issue 7 and an issue 11 which are now quite rare. I do have a copy of the first edition but it's a re-print. If I ever strike it rich I'll fill the gaps.
I also have an original drawing of Student Grant signed by Viz artist Simon Thorpe and would love to collect more of his artwork.

fatty.

I used to collect stamps, coins, hockey cards and comic books.  Music - I collect guitars, vinyl (especially bootlegs), and concerts and studio material from Led Zeppelin, Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, Dream Theater, The Beatles, Chicago, and various others.  Non-music - I collect coasters from every bar or restaurant I go to around the world, business cards, and ticket stubs from every concert and sporting event I've attended since I was 8.

Oh, it's hard to say... I used to collect so much of different things.

At first, a long time ago I used to collect comics about Simpsons (now I have big enough collection of them) and also other related things to Simpsons.

I also used to collect coins with pirates of Caribbean which were in chips and other related things too.

I probably can't say about all that I've collected as there no place will be left ;-)
