He sounds like he wanted Queen to grow and release some new sounds, Something groundbreaking like ANATO, but Jazz wasn't that, Jazz was a review of the 70's pretty much. Fun it and maybe mustapha added something new to the table, but not much else. A band can't reinvent themselves for every album. SHA and A Night At The Opera they did it. Newes Of The world they did it. The game they did it. Even hot space. Every faze Queen went through was pretty much on spot. the only complaint I have of the band is they could have been a little more consistent in the 80's. That's the era That the singles were spot on for the most part with very few hidden gems. they also took less chances, but Still some some great songs from that the 80's era.

Sir Gh...I'm not being intentionally contentious...but "White Man", to ME, IS a superior song to "The Prophet's Song". "It's Late" and "Spread Your Wings" are also in league with ANYTHING on ANATO. And "Sheer Hearet Attack" definintely holds it's own against "I'm In Love With My Car".

Compelling arguments there, that's for sure. Of course you had to pick my two favourite tracks on NOTW !

Sir GH...I hope you aren't being sarcastic! ;)
I'm just saying that Queen adapted to the commercial climate. The artistry of ANATO is insane, indeed. I love that album, but I find ADATR AND NOTW to be better overall albums.
With ANATO they pushed the envelope a far as it could go....ADATR refined it into a more consistent work, and NOTW found the band taking the band into a more simplified , but still outrageously great path.
I'm biased though, NOTW was my first Queen album(all the way back in early '78)...it's the album that made me an insaneQueen fanatic that )within months) would own the rest of their catalog(INCLUDING ANATO).
ANATO, while great, never spoke to me like ADATR or NOTW.
But Queen in the '70's is like that...you have your personal favorites, but EVERY album is STILL a 10/10!

I alway's found ANATO to be better than NOTW, but both are brilliant albums in their own way. No mention of My melancholy Blues?.....one of my favorites on the album. Sheer Heart Attack is Equal to I'm in Love with My car IMO.
