Great topic! Queen are "often known" as a gay band, and sometimes, in some settings, it can be embarrassing to like/hear Queen. Everyone I meet are surprised that I listen to Queen, but that's okay - most people listen to some strange music anyway.

Most people I meet who say they like Queen have only heard the typical hits, and doesn't know much of anything else. I don't understand why people doesn't listen to more songs/albums if they like some of the songs from a band...

Anyway, I can get a little embarrassed when these songs are being played while I'm with other people:
I Want To Break Free, Love of my Life, Coming Soon, Bicycle Race, We Are The Champions...

For many years I was embarrassed at a certain line in "A winter's tale": "...Mountains are zoomin' higher - mm - ..." <-- That weird grunt sounded so out of place in such a beautiful song!! We are not children anymore but my sister still mocks at me for that "mm".

When it comes to Queen I think if you listen to the music objectively rather than from a temporary condition, such as personal taste or attitude, then Queen takes on a whole new light. Musically speaking every song they ever recorded was the work of genius and cant be faulted. I have often skipped songs like Drowse, Coming soon and Rain must fall, but rather than teeny boppers I would say that actual musicians are probably more likely to enjoy everything Queen has ever done. It's the attention to detail and structure that make them truly great.

Action This Day - album version. Cracks me up every time.
Don't Try Suicide

Those are the first two that come to mind.

I used to despise HOT SPACE, but I like the songs more that I'm older, and they are all gem tracks compared to today's music.

DON'T TRY SUICIDE has good music and Freddie sounds good, but I really don't like the song.

The album version of Action This Day is pretty much a joke indeed, except for the middle part. The rest sounds like an unfinished product, a demo.

Rick - Are you serious? Lost Opportunity is embarassing? I very much disagree. I think it SCREAMS emotional blues! Brian sings in quite a heartfelt manner I think and in my opinion it makes the song come straight from inside him - it's another Too Much Love Will Kill You in that way! And the guitar solo is an ultimate bluesy avenue to get lost down. A shame it's a non-album B-side. It's worthy of being an album track - a single actually, and at a push, a monster hit! I envision it being about #7 on the charts for sure!

It's more a Brian than a Queen track, in my opinion.  I'm not a sucker for blues music anyway. Personally, I find his singing very poor in that song. So yeah, I was quite serious. How tastes can differ, right?

The Only song that is Embarrassing is when my Mother rides in the car with me and I play body language. Other than that nothing. Also why would you find a Queen song embarrassing?

HOW can you consider 'My Melancholy Blues' embarrassing?

I'm honestly asking.  What, too 'personal'?

I can name two songs,"don't try suicide" and "son and daughter",because the first one is too much...the police and the second is too much....led zeppelin. All bands in their beginning are showing their influences but on these songs is pretty obvious,Queen to me they are leaders, and when they do follow,I find it embarrasing.

Obviously what is good, bad or embarrassing is subjective.

But when reading these posts, I've been surprised that (in my opinion at least) some quality songs (e.g. Cool Cat) are cited as embarrassing.

When it comes to embarrassing Queen tracks, the daddy of them all is that long, pointless hidden track at the end of Made in Heaven.

Even the most ardent fan can't defend that, surely?

Then again, I'm sure some will now disagree..........

dagi.

PS. As a fan who is only interested in the period when Queen was a four member group, I find the title "Comos Rocks" clichéd and embarrassing when compared to the band's former legacy.

Bicycle Race is a silly novelty song I dont care much for. Delilah is proper cringeworthy. In Only Seven Days wouldn't get a GCSE english F grade. For what its worth Dreamers Ball makes me wince... what is it Freddie said in Live Killers...????
