there should have been at least Need Your Loving Tonite instead of Rock It...
otherwise that looks quite good.
though the order of songs do not seem right.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yup, I agree with that

Sleeping on the Sidewalk? For real?
Why not replace it with Who Needs You or If You Can't Beat 'Em from around the same period? Deacon deserves another one of his songs to be included.

It's pretty clear that John wants to leave the Queen name buried with Freddie, and that Brian and Roger don't. It isn't just compilations where Deacon's songs are minimized - the WWRY musical has only two Deacon songs.
Their falling out likely happened in 1997. They played their last show together with Elton, did No-One But You, and words were likely exchanged on the direction of the band. Later that year Queen Rocks came out, and there wasn't a single Deacon song on the compilation. They have barely spoken since.
So I don't think it's sour grapes or anything. They just disagree, and their lives go on, separately.

I know Bob and I agree, but these are releases under the name Queen, thus Deaky should be present. If they want a clear and honest overview of their musical career, they should include him as well. Weren't it four equal people as said in umpteen interviews?

As fans we also disagree about track selections, so we can understand why the band members were always "quarrelling" in the past.
I think John Deacon is more inclined towards pop music whereas Brian and Roger are more inclined towards rock and roll music. In one of the early interviews, John had said that he was glad that the band produced a song like Killer Queen, otherwise he would have left the band earlier. Without Freddie to support him in the pop-influenced numbers, he most likely feels not compatible with Brian and Roger to carry on in the band.

I'd heard a long time ago that they had disagreements over the '99 RAH UP remix as well. Is there any potential truth to that as well?

Don't forget at the time of Queen Rocks Brian said he'd rather people just bought Queen II instead of the compilation - which also features no Deacon songs.
Would a Queen Love Songs album feature any Taylor songs?
I'm liking these Deep Cuts albums Wel done those involved.

Deep Cuts 2 should be renamed to:
May/Taylor Deeply In Love With Themselves Volume 2.
Blatant favouritism of their own songs.
Deacon must thank his lucky stars he walked away from this mess all those years ago.
I bet he wears fox fur coats and fires a slingshot at the odd badger, just for kicks.

I think the art suffers for it some, but John has opted out. So human nature being human nature there's probably a bit of 'suit yourself then'. Brian and Roger have done all the work and John has chosen not to be there to fight for his songs. This is probably a natural consequence of that.
The Real Wizard
Bingo. John probably just doesn't care anymore. The band lasted 20 years, and it's been pretty much over for 20 years - it was a lifetime ago for him now.

PLUS.
If they were to put a JD penned track on the Deep Cuts albums, wouldn't they have to pay him extra royalties....?

The Hero should definitely go there instead of Battle Theme.
I would also prefer Let Me Entertain You instead of Rock It and/or Sheer Heart Attack, both being the worst Queen songs ever imo. And hey, if Rock It is gone, why don't put A Human Body instead?
John Deacon stuff is indeed missing, Need Your Loving Tonight would be the best for both being a concert thing of the time and a nice radio-oriented song too. In Only 7 Days would do as well, coming just after Jealousy.
Life Is Real instead of Action This Day would be a better selection for the being an "never a hit, but an interesting suggestion for wider audience" - as I think a purpose of these compilations should be.
The rest is ok for me.

I don't think it's a case of John having fallen out with Brian and Roger. The latter two just run things now and John is busy getting on with his life. Re. the Rocks album the only relevant Deacon penned rock song I can think of is Need Your Loving Tonight. Even then it's has more of a pop feel than rock so I don't think he was snubbed in any way when it came to putting tracks on that album. These are my suggestions of songs that should be on this album.
My Melancholy Blues - gorgeous Freddie ballad which shows off their versatility)
Leaving Home Ain't Easy (such a good plaintive ballad)
Need Your Loving Tonight (easily accessible pop, if it was good enough for a single in Japand and the USA then it's good enough to be on an album of hidden gems)
The Hero (A glaring ommission if ever I saw one!!!!)
Soul Brother (Surely a fan favourite????)
If the point of this album is to bring new fans into the fold then I think these songs are more obvious choices. I would have dropped the following numbers to make room for them.
Rock it (Good song but not as strong as any of the above in my view)
Action this day (not likely to win over new fans)
Battle theme (obviously replaced by The Hero)
Jealousy (Big fan of the song but if I needed to pick one more to make space this would be it.
Being cynical I could suggest that the album is Roger and Brian heavy when it comes to the track listing because they're the ones picking the songs and if it was me I'd want people to hear songs I'd written that were maybe missed out first time round. But I'm not sure how fervently I'd fight for that argument.
