Speaking of edits etc - I wonder why the longer (and superior) single version of IWTBF wasn't on the The Works album.

Re: "I Want To Break Free (Single Mix)"

I read somewhere that John wasn't satisfied with the album version after its release (possibly after it went to be pressed, before the release), so he remixed the Single Mix and the Extended Mix for the singles, but it was obviously too late for inclusion on the album.

The album was released February 27th, 1984 and the IWTBF single was released April 2nd, 1984, leaving John with really only a small window to do his remixing (a few weeks to a month, depending on when he started).

I Have a radio promo copy of the argentinan The Works (LP) and it hasn´t  the common Cd version but something similar to the Single version (of i want to break free)

Do we know when that promo was released?

I know I'm not alone in being bewildered by the many unusual Argentinian promos, singles and other releases that slip under the radar.

For such a short album its amazing they haven't added the single mix to subsequent reissues.

Good thread, BTW people.

How long is this version? Can you explain me more about this one?

In USA was released "Special Single Mix", a single version without synth intro. Is this version the same?

Can you send me e-mail to oleggolubkin@rambler.ru? I want you to explain me more about it :)
