Kudos to those who'd heard the original versions before MIH came out - I was a huge fan (lapsed, for sure) in 1995 and I didn't own Shove it ot Mr Bad Guy. Pre internet and all that. I'd heard the titles in the old fanclub mags but not bought the parent albums. What I mean is, to a very high percent of the population it was a fresh album, honestly put together by the band as new product, doing what they's always done. I just think it suffers in hindsight. It hangs too much on the bad side of cheesy. And the CD of it is just a mess.

"IWBTLY is a fekkin travesty and a cruxifiction of a great pop song..."

I disagree, but only up until certain points of the songs where the manipulation and reuse of vocals becomes way too obvious.  It's especially irritating during the fadeout.  There are bits of reused vocal that make it obvious just how dead Freddie is, which is a shame because so much of the album represented a great achievement in making it sound like he wasn't.

=================

I feel the same way, but about you don't fool me, 60 seconds of Freddie doing “NANA's doo doos” and “you don't fool me's” repeated over and over with one verse, an opening lifted from the ending of the track directly after it, and a YEAH spliced in at 3 minutes.
Don’t get me wrong, I can still listen and enjoy it, but it stands out as the Frankenstein’s monster of the album.

For me all the songs on the album were new. I had been a fan for only 4 years and had no knowledge whatsoever of their full reportoire, The Cross included. So somewhat of a special treat for people like me who were hearing a whole new album.

On Christmasmorning my dad had casually put HFE on to surprise me. I actually couldn't believe it was Freddie singing at first. Must have been those low vocals in the verses.

To make a long story short, I was absolutely blown away with Made in Heaven! Although nothing ever topped the first time I heard Sheer Heart Attack :)

Ha! The first album I ever got was Queen 1 - I didn't believe it was them as all I'd heard before was GH1 and whatever was in the charts in the mid 80's.

My first album by Queen was waaay back in 77, News of the World.

I loved it right off the bat. For some reason I didn't buy another Queen album until just recently. I got into David Bowie really big about that time in the 70's, as well as Led Zeppelin.

Recently I have discovered the Sweet, and have been listening to them for the past year, but now I can't get enough music by Queen. Its sad that both the lead singers in both groups are dead.
