This is a great version. Freddie hits a lot of high notes and the audience is amazing.
John can be heard throughout the ''Find me" part, especially around 3:33. It is John who sings the word 'somebody' first, right?
I love these little moments. I think he could be heard more often than we think.
(this is not the best version of this gig, by the way)

Yep, that sounds like Deacy to me. Also note that someone edited in a bit from 1979 after the second chorus ... a really bad edit too.

Here's the same version (but without the edit).
Bob, what concert was that "bad edit" from? I know Freddie goes for that note on a few other 1977/8 versions, but that one phrase doesn't sound familiar!

That is an indeed an obvious edit but it's from 1979...there's no recorded versions where he hit that note in 1979 but it's probably from another European Races gig in 1977 where he went for it.

'Radio Gaga' Milan 1984 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWPGssNwLl0
Probably the best example of Deaky's vocal abilities.. ;)

Haha yes, Milan is a classic.
I didn't even notice the edit, but yeah, it's pretty bad, haha.

Oh there's lot of footage where he actually sings into his mic, but you can't always hear him. That makes it really special.

Well Radio Gaga you can hear him singing
and in the lap of the gods he puts a lot of effort into the chorusy bit

On the original Live Aid broadcast, Deacy is easily audible during the second chorus of Radio Ga Ga. I found a sample of it and sent it to Greg, he's sure it's Deacy is as well. They removed his voice for the dvd's and overall remixed the whole sound of the concert.

Very true. He never mimicked.
Also, I heard the original broadcast of Live Aid and I don't think John ruined the song. Yes he's there, but removing him completely is a bit overdone, in my opinion.

Wonderful Milan thing, I'd never heard it. He hadn't got a good voice but at least he was on tune much more often than a lot of so-called professional singers ;)

I've never noticed this, until now, but it seems John is mouthing the words 'back chat', starting around 1:45.
