the lack of Pink Floyd reissues has been complained about over the last years.
this, however, is the way to do it. I*m getting the immersion sets, and I'm gladly forking out almost £100 for each.

If GB and GT are reading this, I'd like to know your thoughts on what Floyd and EMI are doing here. Not as a 'stick to beat you with' as I understand you have no say in the content of the Queen releases, but more as to whether you think this sort of thing is the right thing to do, what Queen SHOULD have done/be doing, and will this kind of release ever be possible with Queen (in the realistic near future??)
I suppose it confirms that QPL, and NOT EMI as some often thought, have been the stumbling block to this happening for Queen......

I surely look forward to the Pink Floyd releases.
But I think they can't be compared to Queen, as Pink Floyd had a totally different approach of working. In the earlier years they played their songs live in public before even recording them in the studio. So with all the existing recordings before and after there is a wealth of material.
Pink Floyd performed for lots of radio and tv stations in the beginning, there is a whole concept show from the dutch radio in 1969, which was performed but never appeared as an album.
You do not find that with Queen. And in most cases they recorded no demos.

I'm not a pro on all things Pink Floyd but is there not more unreleased stuff than they are announcing related to the albums? It seems limiting on some levels. Michael Jackson's "HIStory: Past, Present, And Future - Book I" has 52 pages. There are many books on these types of releases. Are people buying these gigantic sets not interested in them being more complete? Are EMI and Pink Floyd not interested in new artwork? I just don't get it. Why bother if people are becoming so disinterested in physical formats? I suggest that there will still be a re-release and or releases of these same albums in the years to come.

Pink Floyd is only releasing bonus materials for 3 albums - all th rest are simply reissues with the "remastered" stamp.
This would be like Queen releasing A Night At The Opera's 5.1 Mix, a remix of the album in 5.1 (a la Teo Torriate HD), a Blu-Ray version of the 5.1, a DVD of the mkaing of the album and 1 disc of demos and alternate versions and of course 1 disc of live versions of each of the songs.... for like 130US.... we the Queen fans would complain about this.... we really would - because we would have to pay 130US to get the Blu-Ray and the demos.... this is what Pink Floyd is doing.
So imagine that for ANATO, NOTW and The Game - Queen's bestselling albums. Pink Floyd is only releasing bounses for their big 3 - DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall. Other classics more appreciated by fans like Animals and Meddle and even A Saucerful of Secrets is getting nothing. This would be the equivalent to us getting absolutely nothing for Queen, Queen II, SHA... which is *almost* the case, I realize...but at least we got and are getting something for each of the albums.
Not saying the PF campagin is a bad thing - I was salivating the moment I saw the details of the DSOTM set and WYWH. The Wall, not so much, because they're releasing a remastered live album that only came out about 10 years ago within the set.

So we agree it is not nearly as great as it looks. Not entirely but very much deceiving. Still could be way better. So the question is...what's the industries hold up? Will it still be years before artists use Blu-Ray to released their catelogs and tons of archive material as bonuses?

Pink Floyd are giving three more albums the deluxe treatment. The Piper At the Gates of Dawn was already done in 2007 with the mono mix on CD 1, the stereo on CD 2 and the 1967 singles and so on.
The Wall Bonus CD also has the 1978/79 Britannia Row Studios Demos.I now know why Is There Anybody Out There? is being discontinued in the States for now. A remastered version was released in the US and Canada in 2005 as Sony lost their copies of the masters.
Later titles:
A Saucerful of Secrets will have the mono mix on another disc and the 1968 singles and whatever outtakes left.
If Atom Heart Mother is done, the 1970 BBC Session plus a surround sound mix DVD and the Quadraphonic mix.
My bet Meddle (if that gets a deluxe edition in the future) will have the 1971 BBC performance and also the shelved Quadraphonic Mix.
If Animals gets done the full Pigs On the Wing with guitar solo will be added.
The other live albums will probably get re-issued in 2012/2013 with bonuses.
