Cool, thanks for the info.

But how can Nessun Dorma be an instrumental?  Isn't it an opera (i.e. "vocal") standard?

Jeff's been playing it a lot on tour recently as it's on Emotion & Commotion, his latest studio album.
God bless the Guv'nor

I wouldn't have expected such a crazy question from you, Bob :)

Nessun Dorma can be an instrumental when you just play the tune and don't sing....kinda like any instrumental lol

Sorry, couldn't resist :)

Thistleboy 1980: Standing ovation!

Yep, pretty much any 'vocal' standard can and is turned instrumental very often. Ever heard of a curly-haired guitarist/astrophysicist who covered the National Anthem with just guitars and his bandmate's percussion, instead of singing it?
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Of course, I get that..

But in the world of opera (and its opera snobs), even a single note out of place is sacrilege.  Good on Jeff Beck for continuing to push the boundaries of the guitar.

Simply beautiful.  Nessun Dorma is one of those pieces of music which gives me goosebumps every time - this rendition was no different!

Same here.

Of course, beauty is beauty, and this is no exception.  Jeff Beck is a master of his trade.

But I'd be curious to see what these opera snobs would think.  I mean, some of these people actually demand refunds when an opera singer's voice cracks even in the slightest..

Meh..... In my opinion, Jeff Beck also butchered Surf's Up

LOL When I first read "Nessun Dorma (Instrumental Roger on percussion)", I thought "Wow, how did he manage to play Nessun Dorma on his drums?? Unless he was playing the xylophone or something like that..." XD Then I realised.

A new video has surfaced: "Cocaine" (by EC w/ our Roger on drums)

Still no sign of FBG (although I am a very sceptic about him singing leads on "FBG", "Manic Depression" and "People Get Ready"). I hope I am proven to be wrong. ;-)

The Surf's Up I know and love had no Jeff Beck, nor did it have Queen....
