The latter!  He's made similar videos in the past, I believe, but rather unfortunately this one seems to have gotten a lot more attention.

^ Thanks, I didn't know he had a history of doing this - these fresh news reports should have delved further into his back story and failed to do so.  Thanks for pointing it out.  At any rate I hope the US space program doesn't end after the last space shuttle flight next month.  I hope someday we will make it to Mars.

A while ago they were speculating that it'd be immensely cheaper to send people to Mars and simply not bring them back, and I have to say that if I were even remotely eligible to become an astronaut, I'd put my name down for such a mission.  Earth is really pissing me off.  I would kill to go to another planet.
