You're right - when compared to some artists such as Pink Floyd, Genesis, Rush, ron Maiden, AC/DC etc.., what Queen regard as a 'special edition', or 'rarities', is really a disgrace
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
So far Pink Floyd haven't released anything apart from two outtakes of the first album.
The Genesis remasters didn't have any outtakes or archive stuff apart from lots of poor quality video recordings.

Why is the grass always greener on the other side??? When in fact it isn't.....

Thanks Gary. Don't suppose you'd care to enlighten us as to what's unique about it please?

Also, would you be so kind as to let us know of any other unique versions of the next Deep Cuts album please when it's announced?
Will Deep Cuts 3 also be the final one?

Thankyou! :)

The difference on "Jealousy" AFAIK is that the bass drum track has been re-instated, having been missing from the original mix.

I hope that standalone (unsegued) versions of "Khashoggi's Ship" and "Party" are present on Deep Cuts 3, but that said they're not exactly "hidden gems".

But they're about to. Soon. Their upcoming "Immersion" editions are going be like an Aston Martin parked beside Queen's Mini Cooper.

Pink Floyd have announced a lot over the years that in the end didn't happen due to whatever reason. Compared to Queen their extra output in form of archive releases or concerts so far is "ridiculous". Same goes for Genesis.

My wish is that most of you would have the chance to directly sit in front of Roger Taylor telling you:

"I didn’t think there was much more stuff. There are a couple of tracks that we’ve that we’re working on at the moment, which are very good. But as far as I’m aware there’s really not much that I am, that I’m not aware of, you know."

And then most of you start shouting at him "You liar...you have no idea.......there are at least four boxes of outtakes possible...you had the tape rolling all the time.....there IS lots of unreleased stuff....both you and Brian May have no clue about your recordings......"

I would really love to watch that ...;-)

Perhaps the comparisons with some bands' releases was incorrect, but.......

Givein the choice in believing Roger and Brian, or Gary Taylor, I'd go with Gary every time.  Roger and Brian have NOT been through all the tapes - they are going purely from memory when stating that they don't "think" there is much left in the vault.

Gary HAS however been through the tapes - video, audio, cassette, etc.... and is FAR more aware of what demos, outtakes, live tracks, working ideas etc..etc....exist there.  He didn't provide the informative and factual post above stating that several box sets could be produced of rare and exciting stuff just for a joke.

I think that when Roger and Brian refer to there not being much stuff, they are referring to complete unreleased songs, and have it in their head that is all we want.  Thery are not lying or trying to deceive (most of the time!), but they probably honestlybeleive that at the moment.  However, as fans we want to hear snippets, demos, alternative versions etc... and I don't think they are including these in their assessment of the archives.  When Gary includes these sort of things, that's when we can warrant the talk that there IS a few box sets worth of stuff worthy of release.

I find tapes from 20 years ago with my bands and discover things I'd forgotten all about, and I think Brian and Roger are the same.  Yes, they have memories to a small degree of what they wrote and played in the last 35 years, but Gary has access to the PROOF, and has confirmed without a doubt that the stuff exists.

Interestingly enough, Nick Mason was talking about that phenomenon when he was discussing the "Immersion" edition of "Wish You Were Here". Apparently there was supposed to be a violin (or viola?) solo in the track, which was recorded, but never used. When the band heard it recently, for the very first time since the WYWH sessions, they were pleasantly shocked and mystified as to why that version was not released.

Indeed, Gary and Greg must have better knowledge of what's in the archives than Brian, Roger and John. We shall see.
