There's a Red Special Bass!?

It's on the Brian May Guitars site.  Thoughts?  I'm not quite sure what the point of the thing is; I always thought the chief characteristic of the Red Special was the phase switching combinations.  That's certainly why I got mine, and why I still use it as my main guitar.

Still, when you think about it I guess that phasey sound might not be to your average bass player's tastes.

I'm still waiting for my 12 string RS, Brian ... still waiting.

Someone has got to tell Brian that this has gone too far...the acoustic, I kinda understood. But a RS bass? Yeah I don't know about that one lol

Wasn't that old news?

Anyway, if there's a Gibson EB0, I don't see why not an RS bass or an RS balalaika.
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Ha!  Well I can understand him cashing in on the guitar, but I can't help but wonder that it'd seem a more attractive instrument if it actually did something unique.

A lot of die-hard May fans would buy anything that'd resemble the RS, even the aforementioned loo.

Oooh, and God help us if he branches out of the musical instruments' realm..."Red Special" kitchen appliances, anyone?

"Red Special" sex toys...?

Now THAT would be weird. :)

There was an unofficial RS bass years ago, I'm surprised it's took them this long to do an official one.

BMG is a bit like Mini now, the Countryman looks a bit like the new Mini but it's not really that small but it has a Mini badge so it'll sell.

brian may be harsh when defending his "intellectual property". see what happened when he met a person who made great Red specials for fair price during several years (see rsguitars.com). I also remember how brian scorned on his soapbox another dude who came with an unsucessful (and clumsy) attempt to commarcialize a red special of his own.

I guess I'm the only bassist looking forward to owning one. I'm actually ordering one at the end of July.

Well I'm glad someone had something to say other than "Brian May is a corporate whore".  All jokes aside, I just want to know how it is as an instrument, so when you get yours - let us know!

Still .... waiting .... for .... my 12-string.  I was going to be cheap and just get an Italia Rimini because Brian's taking too long.
