Would Everone Pefer Brian and Roger to call themselves 'Smile'?
Cause everyone bitches when they use 'Queen' name, which they are like it or not!
But if they call themselves 'Smile' and play 'Queen' songs then everyone will bitch then for playing them?
So really the can't win, can they?
People say Freddie Mecury was 'Queen', I disgree with that. All the bands solo work could never reach the same level of success as the bands work. Because the success was the arguments the band had in the studio and song got fine-turned. So its unfair to say it was one man.
Even Frieddie has been quoted saying he is 25% of the rock group 'Queen'
Whats your view friends??????
Im enjoying these discussion since Ive been on here, so cheers all!

Not everyone bitches about that. Some people, however, disagree with the use of the Queen name without all the four members, and I'm amongst them.
It's not about Freddie, but about any of them.
No Roger = No Queen No Freddie = No Queen No John = No Queen No Brian = No Queen
Bits and pieces like Bijou aside, that's the way it always was, and that's, IMO, the way it should've remained. Not my call, of course, but I still disagree.

I think they should still use the same name. Smile wouldn't work, because it's not the recognized band name. Brian and Roger are what's left of Queen, let's face it. John opted out. It's his decision. But if Queen are going to work with someone else, they should use the Queen+ moniker like they have been. But if they want any chance at being still 'out there' and doing stuff besides WWRY and the remasters, they need to do it soon.

I don't think they should call themselves Smile. Keep it Queen +..whatever...
on another note, you also missed the 'r' in Prefer.

The Queen sound was a very unique result of four very uniquely talented individuals working together. Remove any of of them and that unique sound no longer happens. They can call themselves what they want, but it's no longer "Queen."

If they start calling themselves Smile, they better ring up Tim Staffell and make a new album!

I don't see how naming themselves after one dead band instead of another makes it any more interesting or viable. Let them do what they want, the music will stand or fall on its own merits. (We have proof of that already).

Thank you my friend and sorry again for the spelling error!
For me their are the closest i got to seeing 'Queen' and I suppose this goes for the younger fans that went to see them with Paul Rodgers, Im 25.
The Cosmos Rocks wasnt a bad album but compare it to Hot Space with the exception of Under Pressure. Even the hardcore fans who spend all their time on 'Queen' will say Hot Space was the weakest of the them all.
The Cosmos Rocks made 5 in the UK album charts, people tend to forget that, C-lebrity made 33 in the UK single charts, the mighty Metallica at the same struggled to get their single from their last album into the top 40 and look at the massive promotion they had compared to The Cosmos Rocks!
Let them call themselves 'Queen' and if you don't like it you don't have go to the musical which as 'Queen' they produced, buy any of the remasted stuff they've done or anything they do as 'Queen'!

"Smile" wouldn´t be a correct choice, imo .... what about something as simple as "May & Taylor" ?

I'm 52. I saw the real deal. 1978 and 1979. I'm a hardcore fan. I love Hot Space. In my opinion, The Miracle was the weakest of them all, and that is excluding anything with a "+" in the name.
You feel "Cosmos Rocks" wasn't a bad album compared to Hot Space, I feel Cosmos Rocks was a bad album compared to any other new material I have purchased by favorite bands in the past five years. To me it sounds like middle of the road, early 70s generic radio friendly pseudo-blues with some embarrassingly trite lyrics. I didn't like that style then and I don't like it now. It's certainly not viable in today's music world. Some people like that style and they are welcome to it.

What an absurd statement. The remastered stuff is authentic Queen.
