is this the link you meant? i found the site it was from... horrible site. As many posters are probably sick of hearing, i'm an evangelical Christian, and believe what i believe very strongly, but this site made me feel sick. Such a vicious attack. If you're going to make some kind of religious website about music, why not use it to promote christian music, or to provide sheet music/tabs for worship songs. Why not make a site about worship, or the effective use of music in worship, or in reaching people. WHY would you go to the trouble of making a site and using it to attack and condemn people? :( Come to that, wouldn't it follow Christ more closely to make a site promoting giving to the poor, volunteering, etc?! Or even just a site to make people feel a little bit happier.
Ok, i just posted a condemnatory post about the site, which is exactly the behaviour i'm condemning.
And it says he died in 1991.

eeks, i just ended up spending ages on that site, it was like picking a scab, it hurt, but it was strangely fascinating. What a horrible horrible site. :(

Such a pathetic site... and all religions are pathetic, especially Christianity in all its forms.
I support the idea of helping the poor, homeless, workless but far away from religious ideas.

It certainly was a narrow minded and biggoted attack on a talented person who had many different aspects to his persona.
I would not say that Freddie was an anti-christ as he wrote the song Jesus and All God's People aswell as songs such as Somebody to Love, Heaven for Everyone, The Miracle, Is this the world we created........
The writer also mentioned that at Freddie's Tribute Concert other antic-christ musicians performed. I think that is an ignorant thing to say as I'm sure Anni Lennox and Elton John are not anti-christ aswell as David Bowie who read the Lord's Prayer during the concert. It's a narrow minded view from a person that does not Christian Values. To say someone is burning in hell is a sign of a person who lacks in morality. To keep the faith, help the vulnerable, respect others and live life aswell as you can is the way to live, not to analyse people and to say that they are in hell.

Well this kind of site doesn't exactly inspire confidence in christianity, does it :( I found this definition of religion on the net -- not exactly oxford, but still. 1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. 2. a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion. 3. the body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.
So saying 'religions are pathetic'... im assuming you mean organised religion involving structured worship of something? As opposed to 'worldviews are pathetic'? We all have ideas about what the world means, why we are here, etc, i can totally see where you're coming from, because organised religion has done a lot of harm -- but (as most of qz is sick of hearing me say) many times this is a corruption of religion. I dont know... if you read the New Testament as a record of the start of the christian church, it is a totally different picture to what comes to mind when you say 'christian religion.' They actually DID help the poor, homeless, etc, and there is an argument to say that the early christians gave women, for instance, a lot more rights and respect then they had in general society prior to this. Likewise, movements like the Quakers were also religious, but very socially active in their day. SO, my point is, people corrupt good ideals, doesn't mean there is no value in the ideal. Rant over! I agree, this site is pathetic, but more then that, it is hurtful to people and wrong. If you read some of the other articles... yikes... Freddie's is harmless compared to some of what is said. Blatant slander, what looks to me like blatant lies, or at best severely mis-interpreted quotes taken WAY out of context (but i really don't see how they could be quotes). Ozzy Osbourne is attributed with causing 15 deaths, Marilyn Manson supposedly said that he is tired of hearing about the Columbine shooting victims, and that the killers in that school were the real heroes. Oh yes, and Amy Grant is a satanist. (Yes, Amy Grant, the christian singer.)

Wow... I'm a bit lost for words about that.
I think the site is very misguided. I'm a Christian and I agree that parts of what that author said about Christ being the only way to salvation. (The guy is not saying anything new there. Jesus did after all say, "No one comes to the Father except through me.")
However, I think the entire approach of the site is incorrect. There is no need to insult and hurt people in this way to share this message.
The Bible tells us that Christ preferred the company of ordinary folk rather than the teachers of religous law. I don't want to put words in Jesus' mouth, but I'd like to think that when he was on earth, he would have preferred to hang out with Freddie Mercury than the writer of that web site. He would very likely have had a thing or two to tell Freddie about the way he was living his life, (as we would all of us), but he would have loved him.

Since we're (kind of) on the subjeckt - "One Vision" could be the theme song for Anti Christ, I think.
If EU, USA, the African Union etc. teamed up to "One Sweet Union", there would/could be:
One man One goal One true religion
One voice One hope One real decision
There's only one direction, One world and one nation,
All we need is one world wide vision. --- --- I've been thinking about this for a couple of years now... And it's also pretty simular to the Lord of the Rings - "One ring to rule them all"...

Ale Solan i can't believe you condemn someone views as being vicious and bigoted and then spool out a load of bile equally obnoxious. Have a good read at Catqueen's comments, you might learn something.

Recognize hate and reject in all forms.
The latest figures on HIV/AIDS: 30 million men, women and children have died from it. Think about that for a moment ... 30 million. Where do you even put that many graves? The same disease that robbed us and Queen of its lead singer has taken a mighty toll and will continue until a cure is found.

I love the way the website creator critisices Fred's funeral service in part because it wasn't conducted in English. Perhaps he's unaware Jesus wasn't an anglophone and that the gospels weren't originally written in the Queen's English.
Anyway, religion has its good and bad points -- mostly bad as historically it has usually been a means of control, enforcing a doctrine or imposing a type of morality on people who were otherwise quite happy to do without it. Some religions are changing for the better, probably too late given what we now know about the nature of the universe (it's not a miracle, it's a light bulb!), while others are stuck in the middle ages and must therefore maintain control by punishment rather than reform. Meanwhile your local vicar/priest is probably a nice chap but like everyone else he's two meals away from nailing someone up to a lampost to appease the holy ghost.
