No - it was for some other starting position.  The letter mentions Ealing, where he attended college with Smile's frontman.  
Freddie, Roger and Brian were in the same financial straits early on and helped each other by selling used goods
on the streets of London to raise cash.

I guess that's my career in comedy down the drain!
