The Click's are still here

I don't really think that being a longtime user makes you less of a troll.  I've been here since 2004 and I'm apparently a troll (not my words, though).  A band called Treasure Moment has been coming here - the singer, the guitarist, and their drummer - since 2006, and they're still trolls.

Yes, we have no idea what any of us are like outside this place.  But maybe instead of fighting you could show us?  Like act as respectfully and politely as you would in real life -- if someone is annoying you, state it politely or just avoid the topic, etc.  Then we will maybe get a more complete picture of what you're like.  And also there will be less fighting.  :)

Btw, I don't think this is text-speak or 'sms format.'  I have never seen 'click' abbreviated to 'clique,' 'write' changed to 'right' (usually its 'rite' as 'right' is the same length) or 'merely' abbreviated to 'mealy' or extra apostrophes regularly put into words like post's.

My opinions of you are based around the things you write, not the way you write them.  If you had come across as at least a semi-decent person, and had a reasonably adult conversation which maybe had a point, I'm sure I would have been willing to see past some spelling/grammar mistakes.  Once I had got to know you, I might have (in a friendly way)pointed out some errors, but I'm not the sort of guy to generally pick on someone for this sort of thing.  What irks me, though, is that instead of taking the comments you did get on board, you hide behind "SMS" speak, which you clearly aren't doing anyway as Catqueen has pointed out.  This topic started off with you setting out to antagonize.  You weren't making a "point", you were deliberately trying to start a fight.  Rather naively, I missed that, and thought you had just mis-used a word - so when I tried to clarify what the thread was about, you got personal. 

With me, folk get what they see - sure, I use the nickname "Thistleboy", but a lot of folk here will already know my name is James.  I haven't created some pseudo-persona, so generally speaking, if you were to meet me in the flesh, you'd see the same personality and hear the same opinions.  In other words, I don't try to make people think I'm something I'm not - if they like me for it, then great, but if they don't, nothing lost.

You're right - I don't know you outside QZ, but first impressions stick.

I keep reading this thread title as "The Chicks are still here".  Must be I'm looking at the entire word at one time rather than going left to right.  That's speed reading for you.  But if it were a song, it would be like "The Boys Are Back In Town", according to my imagination.  Not that it would be a good song.
