I prefer the original - always liked it- but I hope this new version goes viral and gets Roger the exposure he deserves. Oh, and the 'values/lifeblood' lyric line has been changed (and other verses have been edited out sadly).

Just heard the Japanese promo for the first time - that actually has he same lyric line in question as this new version, but these are different to the standard 'Happiness?' release. Looks therefore as if Roger favoured one version originally, changed his mind at the last minute on release, but has now reverted back! Shame, as the 'who's values don't...scan' line is better to me andmore apt for the reason this has been remixed now

Now:

"You control half our media whose lifeblood is scam"

yes you are quite correct about the change in the lyric, but this lyric is still old from 1994, if you listen to the promo version.

you can find it here on David fullers youtube site:-

Anyone with good ears who can determine what's new on the recording? To me it sounds like some lines are a bit different from the 1994 version, but maybe it's just the mix. The whole backing track seems to be new?

I totally agree. When someone is so rich as Roger and Brian they simply do not need to work with the Murdoch organisation. The song was genuine when it was written and recorded but after Roger and Brian appeared on AI and  used the SUN to promote WWRY it would have been better not to jump on the bandwagon right now. There is only so much double standard one can explain away.

Agreed, & if I'm not mistaken, I think there was a lot of Queen's 40th promotional stuff wrote about in the sun.

P.S.

It's not a completely new recording.
It's something like new 'stripped down' edited mix of an old recording with new piano part. And 'lifeblood' line was used on the promo version as well indeed. The result is fabulous and needs to be properly released.

Regarding Roger's interview with The Sun, I have a few questions:

Did a Sun staffer conduct the interview or was it a freelancer? The difference is important. A freelance reporter who took an opportunity to interview Roger might not have had a buyer for the exclusive until well after the interview was conducted. If he sold it to The Sun, then Roger can't be held accountable for that. Roger would not say, "You can interview me, but no selling it to any paper Murdoch owns." It just doesn't work that way.

Also, was the interview reported in other papers or was it an exclusive? It might have been for a press-conference or gleaned from other press-release sources. QPL would send out material to media outlets and those outlets would do what they want with it.

I haven't read the interview, so I'm curious if it's an actual one on one Q & A or if it's just quotes from Roger in an article. If it is a Q & A, refer back to my earlier question about who conducted it (staff or freelance).

All of this is important to the context of the statements and merit we give it.

Absolutely not new! it's just a different version from the 1994 album. Still like it though

It was a piece that promoted the first five album reissues along with Deep Cuts, contained quotes and reflections from both Roger and Brian billed as an "Exclusive Interview", and was written by a woman who's Twitter bio says "i interview pop stars for The Sun newspaper".  All 137 articles listed on her journalisted profile were written for The Sun.

I like this version without the effects.  I cringed when I heard similar vocal effects on Electric Fire (forget the song).  The piano and acoustic guitars sound great
