Brian's ventures into tapping

Just listening to the Back to the Light album and I started wondering 'Has Brian tapped at all?' I know that he does it on that album - namely, the solo in Resurrection, and near the end of the Nothin' But Blue solo. And, YES, I know people will cite It's Late - don't worry, I know that famous example; it's actually a way to prove Eddie Van Halen didn't invent tapping, since the track predates the first VH album by a year. But can anyone name any tracks - Queen, solo, or guest contributor - when Brian has tapped in his work? Speaking of Van Halen, something tells me Brian taps on Blues Breaker on the Star Fleet album, or is that Eddie doing the majority of it? I can't really tell them apart.

Think that about covers it, though there may be bits of tapping on other guest appearances I'm not aware of.

There's also some stuff towards the end of Mustapha that sounds a bit fishy, and possibly could be tapping. If it isn't, it's some awesome trilling.

You really can't tell the difference between EVH's guitar and Brian's? They are both distinctive guitars and both players have distinctive styles. Even when they copy eachother it's fairly easy to to tell the two apart.

Holly2003 - I only know Jump and the Van Halen version of You Really Got Me. So I'm not that knowledgeable on EVH's style. I'm more of a Red Special geek than a Frankenstrat geek.

Brian said he stole tapping for It's Late after seeing Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top tapping, and Billy told Brian he saw some guy in a bar in Texas do it which is how he did it.  EVH just took it to the masses and a new level.

I'm sure he's tapped Kerry Ellis by this point.

I thought this might have been to do with phone calls.....after all, he did work on News Of The World.....

Roger - What?  One of those out-takes we'd dug up from the Queen II sessions and decided we couldn't let the masses hear it in case they thought we might have an anthology-style release in the pipeline? B - No - don't be so fucking stupid.  There's nothing in the archive at all.  I've had someone very trustworthy cataloguing the session tapes and I can assure you we haven't got anything like that from any of our albums. R - But we out out Feelings Feelings on the News Of The World remaster. B - No we didn't, it doesn't exist.  I'd know because I'm a Doctor........ R - Whatever. B - Anyway, you'll love this.  Remember that guy who played bass with us in the '70's? R - Barry Mitchell? B - I think so.  He came up with the bass line that Ice Baby character used. R - Yeah - Barry.  He had a tape of us playing a college show in 1976, didn't he? B - No - we've released everything that is of high interest to anyone. R - Whatever. B - I've got this tape of him talking about us.  Recorded from a highly developed bug I placed in a lampshade in his hotel room the night we played at Milton Keynes Bowl for the Live Aid show in 1989. R - Wow!  How did you get that? B - Never you mind.  I think that Rebecca Brooks chick wanted it so that she could use it in her defence against these phone tapping charges.  Looks like everyone's been doing it for years.  Even the James Bond films show it.  Listen. <
