Sorry if this is common knowledge already and I'm just being slow and clueless, but.......how many versions of the "Red Special" has Brian used over the years?
Just been watching Milton Keynes '82 on DVD, and at the beginning, Brian is using a really old guitar - it's in need of a lick of paint and looks as though it's heavily taped together at the bottom, and looks suspiciously like a RS (I'm a naive wee sod, but have assumed it's the original he built with his dad), but later on in the show, he's using a newer, shiny one!
That got me thinking as to how many different versions he's used.....if it IS more than one, is he using the "original" these days, or one of his own replicas?

i would suggest there are so many that "special" is not the best way to describe it how about "red common as muck"

i apologize, apperently he did use another guitar on that show as a backup becuse the strings on the original red special snapped mid-show

There are 3 Fryer models called: John, Paul and George according to a Guitarist magazine interview at the time. Didn't he have the Red Special 'Super' Japanese model for dropped Eb tuning for 'Bad Company' on the last tour? And the custom painted space one for Crazy Little Thing?

He used a green Red Special for Fat Bottomed Girls (Drop D tuning, obviously) in San Diego 2006. I remember seeing the "SUPER" one but I don't know if it was in one of the shows I attended or if I saw it in a Live DVD.
