was giving opera a play the other day...and i always skip Prophet Song due to the tedious repitition and that it's Brian's "poor Bohemian Rhapsody facsimile"
anyhow, i listened to it, and having always assumed that it was Brian's retelling of the "Noah's Ark" story.....thought i'd see what else is in there, but couldn't get beyond the "floods and the ark"....
anyhow, watched an old film on sky the other day "Sodom & Gomorra" (with Stuart Grainger as Lot) and there are bits in the fall of Sodom that seem to fit Brian's "Prophet Song" quite well....sowhat do people thing?

The vocal echos are the best part.
If you're going call "The Prophet's Song" a "Bohemian Rhapsody" facsimile, you ought to acknowledge that BR is a knock off of "The March Of The Queen." Come to think of it, TMOTBQ is a blatant rip of "Liar". And you know what, "Liar" began as Wreckage song called "Lover." Good Lord, this band lacks original ideas when viewed superficially.
"The Prophet's Song" is more accurately the next logical advancement of Brian's use of echo and repetition in his music, such as in his Brighton Rock Solo. The layers built in the TPS create an hypnotic soundscape that takes the listener through the dream Brian himself experienced. It's especially stunning in DTS surround, where it flows around the room.
Absolutely stunning work!

I never understand the BR / MOTBQ link. Longs songs with lots of different sections, that's it really. I'd say BR rips off Get In Te Swing by Sparks :o)

The vocal echos spoil the song for me. I always skip past. When I do listen to them its through one speaker because it sounds so much better....

I remember thinking it was a bit shit when I was little but I love it now. It's seemed to go on for ages!
