listen the track.
I created a matrix with the official remaster, and other source of snow.producciones i think.
Demostrates the autotune in the track himself.
Sorry for my english.

Interesting...

In which points do you think in the remaster did they use autotune? Timestamps? Because I think you're on to something here...

This doesn't surprise me. Brian and QPL just don't get it, people don't want these fixes being put into place. It's one thing to update the drum sound and bring everything up to contemporary shape, but auto-tuning and overdubbing on previously released material is just plain wrong!

:45 is the most obvious one.  Excellent work.

It's completely unnecessary to autotune Freddie Mercury.  He was a master vocalist and musician, but he was also a human being.  No human being can sing 100% in pitch 100% of the time.  Live concerts are supposed to have flaws.  It's too bad that some people just don't get that.

Hmmm, it sounds really "phased" (that part at 45 seconds)! That doesn't sound right.

That's some REALLY phased auto tune (you can actually hear TWO FREDDIES--the off pitch one, and the corrected one). If they wanted to "touch up" the pitch, why couldn't they simply NOT use autotune, and simply just fix the pitch without a program? Look at Montreal and Live At The Bowl: There's some pitch correction on those releases, but they didn't use autotune, and Freddie still sounded "natural."

Actually what I hear sounds more like a chorus or doubling effect as if the processed signal is doubling the original, which is just as unnecessary for the likes of FM. I work with Autotune and other pitch correction tools, and they can do a lot better than this.

Yeah, I'm with you on this: It's either really bad use of autotune, or a chorus/phase effect. That part at 45 seconds is not cool!

I don´t know if i undertand well but this file that you shared here has nothing to do with the remaster one wich is on the Bonus EP! this file has an awful pitch and some awful echoes (or chorus) than the remaster version doesn´t has.

I think the original poster may be describing superimposing the two tracks to highlight the changes, thus explaining the echo/two Freddies?  Maybe?

Actually a lot of the recordings benefit from these kind of fixes. The kind of fixes most people don't like are stupid edits like cuts in songs and stuff like that. This Hammersmith '75 recording benefited a lot from these simple pitch corrections and another gig that would highly benefit from this kind of treatment is Hyde Park. They've already fixed up Ogre Battle and it sounds great.

But not like this.  They just did some basic mixing and maybe EQing ... no autotune or anything drastic.

It may sound like it, but that just goes to show how bad the generated video feed sounds.

I think they used the same type of program for this as they did on Rock Montreal and Live at the Bowl. And to me, Freddie still sounds natural here.

On the DOOL documentary it sounds like they removed the vocal crack on the screams at the beginning of Ogre Battle right before the first verse yet Freddie is still singing so it sounds like some pitch correcting thing. I don't think they've ever used autotune though. Even for the newly remastered Hammersmith '75 tracks it sounds more like some pitch correcting program.

You can't fix a voice crack with pitch correction.  They probably just copied/pasted from another scream a second or two later.
