What does the line "knock me down for a six anytime" mean?

Is he talking about minutes or inches? Or did he mean 69 and forgot the other half? This has bothered me for thirty years..

It's a bastardization of "hit me for six", an idiom that comes from cricket, wherein the batsman gets 6 runs for smashing the ball over the boundary without it hitting the ground.

So to be "hit for six" or, in Freddie's words "knocked down for a six" is to be metaphorically struck very hard or bowled over, to use another cricketing idiom.

Basically.

Thanks for the explo. I'm sure I'm not the only American who never understood the reference.

I've always seen it as amusing proof that Freddie knew nothing about sport. ...well cricket at least.

"basically" - i disagree. Queen were at a position where they'd finally hit the top of the american market with "the game" - i don't think freddie would've used an idiom that was only applicable to a small (cricket-playing) part of the world market. i also don't think that freddie as an intelligent song-writer would be silly enough to get a phrase or saying so wrong.

therefore, i feel this phrase is about boxing. ie - he'd been hit so hard that it'd take a count of six to get back to his feet

You're both wrong.

Freddie was a fan of drinking cheap American beer.  It basically meant that he wanted you to bring a six pack of Schlitz   He was such a lightweight, that a six pack would knock him down every time.

The six pack of beer theory make sense. Although this phrase has a double meaning, this guys knew already that was an icon, lots of people will wonder what he really means...why u wanna think he was that innocent? he was a smart and naughty boy right...
It can related to his light weight alcohol handling, but also means down on a six, means feet, knees and hands....222 = 6... cutest ass... doggy style ... get it? :)

Hey all!
Joining in a bit late... but I looked this up and found you :) Thought I'd give my 80s version.

'Body Language' was one of my first 45 vinyls growing up in Canada. I still remember the steamy cover of a naked couple with arrows suggesting a hot red lipped brunette giving her guy a BJ in 69 position. Thus, I always interpreted the "knock me down for a 6 anytime" meant exactly as the cover suggested, "hit me up for a blow job anytime'. The 6 being half of the trendy 69 back then. To me it made sense. My 2 cents anyhow.

Was fun reading your comments.

Thx and Cheers!

Its about a six pack... as in on one’s abdomen. When someone’s abdomen his highly toned, they get muscles that show as a “six pack”.

Pretty sure since the song is called “Body Langiage” he’s talking about body parts, not beer cans. LOL
