Was listening to 'Tear It Up' today and realised it sounds very much like Billy Squier's 'The Stroke'. I know the band were close friends of Squier's,

How many other influences can you spot in their music?

Well, "Under Pressure" was clearly influenced by "Ice Ice Baby"...

Track 13 was ripped off from Yanni.  It's blatant.  How they haven't gotten sued is beyond me.

Mentioned this before, but parts of 'Keep Passing the Open Windows' heavily recall Joe Jackson's 'Steppin' Out'

Nah, seems more like a labor of love. Also, the band and engineers are on record attesting to the fact that FM requested that he record FINAL recordings for the band to use at a later date.

I think they did a fucking phenomenal job. The album rates as one of their best in my opinion.... Even if i skip "I was Born to Love You"

And Billy Squier's "The Stroke" in turn sounds very much like Queen's "Dragon Attack".

Also, "The Invisible Man" seems to be influenced by Michael Jackson's "Bad", in turn influenced by the Ghostbusters theme, which was plagiarized from "I Want A New Drug" by Huey Lewis and The News. :p

I'd also throw in 'Put Out the Fire' in the same bag as 'Tear It Up' and 'The Stroke'. Very similar drum beat, and whaddaya know, it's another Brian track ;)
