Hi all
I am a new member but long time fan, indeed they were the first band I saw in June 1977.
I wanted to share with you a discovery which suprised me earlier today and I am sure would
be of interest to other Queen fans.
The track Brighton Rock - from Sheer Heart Attack has long been a favourite of mine and
I have always been curious about it's intro music, the swirling fairground sound which I'm
sure your all familiar with. Well imagine my suprise when I downloaded and listened to an
album from 1969 called A Gift From Euphoria by an American band called Euphoria.
Track 5 features the exact same sounds of the fairground with the girl laughing in the
background that is at the start of BR. This must surely be a sample from this old album
as it is identical and casts a new light on the idea that Queen may have used this track
to start off what to me, is their greatest album.
Has anyone heard of this before or have any views?

The intro to Brighton Rock has been shared on the site before,  I think it came from some sound effects album but I can't be sure.
Don't shun it!

Yes. had this for many years. They did 'borrow' this sound sample and added it onto the start of BR.
It was available through an old sound fx sample site years ago...It was called 'Carnival Midway ' if I recall correctly. I'm probably wrong..but I seem to believe it was from a catalogue that had been used more than once on record.

thanks for the feedback on that, I am suprised I had not heard it before really
as I have come across all sorts of sound FX albums before, hell I have tons of the buggers...
I was so suprised to hear it being used as an intro to another track though and Euphoria
are pretty obscure!

no, my first Queen gig (indeed my very first gig) was at Earls Court
ticket attached - My memories of the show are not too hazy, considering it was
way back in my early teens. I do remember being impressed by the size of the hall
and I had quite a good view. My abiding memory tho' is of my Dad taking me and my
friend Ilya to our seats, saying "I will be back soon", and he didn't return for the rest
of the entire gig! He was nearly passed out at the bar -I also remember getting home
was a bit of a nightmare...

Does that mean your Dad wasn't a big fan???
