Additional Videos: new promo videos containing unseen rushes, performances and outtakes. -Seven Seas of Rhye -Killer Queen -Somebody to Love -We Are The Champions -Crazy Little Thing Called Love -Under Pressure -Radio Ga Ga
Thoughts?
these bonuses, more or less clear. But what you think about these chapters "Freddie Legless", "Song Writing Balance Changes 1980’s", "Scrabble Wars" ?
- Seven Seas of Rhye - Footage from Stormtrooper Stilletos Exibition -TOTP - Killer Queen -Stormtroopers - TOTP performance - Somebody to Love - Like we have seen on the BBC Days of our Lives doc; maybe a bit longer - We are the champions- Like we have seen on the BBC Days of our Lives doc; maybe a bit longer - Crazy Little Thing - Like we have seen on the BBC Days of our Lives doc; maybe a bit longer -Under Pessure - Working in the Music Land studio- Freddie with the yellow t-shirt with Mickey Mouse footage - Radio Ga Ga - Like we have seen on the BBC Days of our Lives doc; maybe a bit longer
That Melancholy Blues footage would be great to add too( Was shown on Fredie 65th birthday)
Well...
Freddie Legless--- His injury in 1985 (bar accident), effect on the show in Hannover, effect on it's a Hard Life vid. Writing Balance---- Result Deaky writing Another One Bites The Dust and Break Free and Roger Ga Ga, Hot Space; Deaky's kind of music with Freddie. Not Brian and Roger's thing. Scrabble Wars---- The Scrabble Games that were played with the Queen crew during the tours till 1986. Freddie being a Scrabble Queen and he came up with the most strange words nobody heard from, lot's of drinking and night hours being made.

Freddie Legless - is a funny story told by Roger about the one time Freddie appeared on stage drunk!

Guess I'll be looking around at year-end sales for a blu-ray player.

Well, it appears now that Japan is getting an extended version of this release.
There is a 'special edition' 2 disc DVD, which I am assuming is the same as the worldwide Blu Ray release (as opposed to the 1 disc DVD available generally as previously announced), but also a 'Director's Cut' version which features approx 40 minutes of exta material (see QOL for details of what) exclusively for the Japanese market. Not sure if this Director's Cut is only on DVD, or on Blu Ray too - as usual the QOL press release is very sparce on any really useful info, but I have gleaned the above from HMV Japan and CD Japan, who both have pre-order links already.

The DVD for sale in the UK/RoW is a one disc affair, whereas the Japanese one comes as a two disc 'Special Edition' or three disc 'Director's Cut' - see here:
My assumption is that the second disc on the Japanese 2 disc DVD will have ONLY this 40 minutes of bonus footage but still EXCLUDE the extra additional material that is on the UK Blu Ray, but the 3 disc 'Directors Cut' will have both lots of extra stuff across two extra discs. I assume that the Japanese Blu Ray will have everything.
It's possible that we could end up with the following;
UK/RoW DVD - 1 disc UK/RoW Blu Ray - 1 disc with extra bonus footage Japan DVD - 2 discs; same as UK DVD but with extra disc just for the 40 mins (Budokan etc) (ie EXCLUDING the UK Blu Ray extras) Japan DVD - 3 discs; same as UK Blu Ray and also with extra disc of 40 mins (Budokan etc) Japan Blu Ray - 1 disc - same as UK Blu Ray/Japan 3 disc DVD version
Until I see a full spec I won't be ordering the UK Blu Ray if the Japanese one has 40 mins more rare content.
If the 3 disc Japan DVD has the extra content from the UK Blu Ray, it begs the question as to why the UK DVD can't have this too?
Does any of that makes sense?!!?

One of the reasons why Japanese CDs have extra tracks that the rest of then world don't have is, I gather, an attempt to persuade the Japanese to buy their 'own' more expensive product, rather than order from abroad. I wonder if the same reason applies to this Queen release?
Like it's been said though, it's still taking the piss somewhat.

Queen: Days Of Our Lives Director's Cut Edition ---> Release Cancelled

I wonder why this has been cancelled? The dvd is not scheduled for release in Japan until a month after the UK. Also watch out as the only Blu ray available to order from Japan seems to be just the international one on import?!?
Just to recap the trailer: 3 lines from Freddie (all archive footage), 2 lines each from Brian and Roger (all new footage) and not a single line from John. Shall we read between the lines, gentlemen?

Only in 240p?? the trailer isn`t bad but is almost the same footage seen on tv... ah! the relatio-aspect is awful... =============================================================================================== Don`t like-don`t buy. What a problems? Enough moans. People are trying, work, they try to do archival materials in the divine form and appears someone who has taken nick of Great musician and begins to moan. Can you make the quality better? Can you? Then go ahead in Queen Productions and show them how to do their job. Everyone can talk but do he can`t
Promoting a BluRay with a 240p trailer is a complete fuck-up. And I would love to get the chance to "go ahead in Queen Productions and show them how to do their job". I could even do that from my own home.. most of us have Skype these days (QPL probably hasn't)
The least they could do is run all of their promotion/releases by a multimedia expert who knows what is possible these days to come across a bit more professional.
Queen used to be leading in creative innovation when Freddie still had a say in it. He would have a fit if he knew the imperfection QPL allows these days.
On a brighter note, love this release and will be sure to buy it!

PREORDER @ RECORDSTORE.CO.UK??

What is the deal with this store? They have almost nothing of interest NOR a lot of products..
- Did QPL make a deal with them (apparently)? - Will the DVD/BluRay be available somewhere else as well? EDIT: I found it already, in my own country, cheaper than on recordstore.co.uk

Do people realise that as far as picture quality goes the only benefit you will see on the Blu-Ray version is the new interviews. All the old TV footage will look NO DIFFERENT compared to the DVD version.
It's just marketing. You do not need to invest in a blu-ray player just for this, unless seeing more of Brian and Roger's grey hairs and wrinkles is your thing

OK, fair enough.
Talking of which...
On the extras are the TOTP clips in full? And where's the Now I'm Here TOTP clip?
