how very ironic! Queen spent 40 years with EMI, then have jumped ship, only for the announcement today that EMI has been sold to Universal.
Although Universal (and QPL) have a long way to go before the releases are at the level they could and should be, this year has been better than the last 15 with EMI, so let's hope that any EMI staff going across don;t end up back on the Queen account!!!

and pretty soon it'll all be owned by one damned company who will manufacture ONE damn method for purchasing music, which would require ONE damn player for it...
...which will require more than ONE damned pound/or dollar.
Crazy how everything gets swallowed up into ONE damn business.
PS: anybody ever hear that awful LAIBACH cover of ONE VISION?.... their interpretation sounded pro fascistic.

We should be grateful they DID jump ship when they did, otherwise we might not have even had this years stuff!!!

Maybe EMI was eyeing Immersion-style boxsets for Queen's biggest selling classic albums, and certain control freaks in the Queen camp couldn't stomach the very idea of letting many new rarities out before a full-on boxset would come out (ha!), so that could very well be a reason (or one of several) why Queen chose not to renew with EMI.

What EMI is doing with the Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull catalogs is excellent. Queen are too stingy to re-release deluxe box sets like what Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and also (for all of the world sans the US and Canada) Genesis. Queen are now being outsold by Amy Winehose (who should have said YES YES YES to REHAB) and Lady Gag Gag
