The movie should start shooting next year, says producer.
Sacha Baron Cohen's Queen movie has been given the title Mercury.
The Borat and Bruno star had been confirmed to play the iconic singer Freddie Mercury in a big screen biopic.
Now, producer Graham King has revealed that the film has been given a title. He told DigitalSpy.co.uk: "I can tell you the working title is Mercury. Whether that ends up being the title of the movie we’re not sure yet."
King, who is currently promoting the Martin Scorcese-directed Hugo, added: "He led such a big life and there’s just so much to tell. Then you've got all this fantastic music. You've got to fit that in. It's not an easy one to put together but I'm pretty confident we'll be shooting that next year."
It has previously been suggested that the film will focus on the often strained relationship between Mercury and his Queen bandmates Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. There has been speculation that it will climax with a recreation of their seminal 1985 performance at Live Aid.
Queen's 40th anniversary has been marked with a flurry of activity, including the reissue of all of their albums, a major exhibition in London, and numerous awards including an MTV EMA.
It's about time. I've only been waiting for what, almost 2 years now. That's what it feels like.

This is the biggest bunch of rubbish and you're all eating it up.
Cohen has not signed anything.
Ah, a one name title for the next Cohen movie? That's like the 3 word Steven Seagal chain a few years back!
Meanwhile, I'm still trying to track down Walken. He cashed the check but is nowhere to be found. I'm gonna check Robert Wagner's house...

The title is on par with other scripts written by Peter Morgan..."Frost/Nixon", "The Queen"...all very elemental and spare. I like it, and I'm still optimistic the film will be made and still optimistic it will be worthwhile. I'm not all that optimistic it's ever going to show up at a theatre near me however. I'm going to be annoyed if I have to drive to Toronto or something.

I'm optimistic too. And I like the idea what the movie should be about. Anyway I liked all the films written by Peter Morgan I've seen - "The Queen", "Frost/Nixon" or "The Damned United" (best football movie ever!!!).

Good title. I also like what the film is going to be about, but they could also add some moments from Freddie's/Queen's life from the 1970's, couldn't they? Anyway, I wish the film would fucking end up being done more sooner!

SBC sucks... (sacha baron cohen)
he was the only thing that DETRACTED from the film mentioned in your post: HUGO.
Hugo was a beautiful tribute to ingenuity, strength over adversity and most of the old time cinema. (With particular attention on director GEORGE MELIES.... whose film TRIP TO THE MOON coincidentally was used in the "HEAVEN FOR EVERYONE" promo video from MIH)
The film was beautiful (Martin Scorsese directed) and yes, it did get a little preachy considering his film preservation campaign but that was great.
Cohen, appeared to be ACTING the whole time... and wasn't very convincing even as a sort of comic foil. His accent was horrible as well. Ah well...
Personally i don't hope it gets produced, don't like the guy. But meh, who cares... it's just my opinion.

The original title for the Beatles film Help was Eight Arms To Hold You.So the working title of this film Mercury sounds as though they couldnt be bothered coming up with a decent title.
