The Queen Extravaganza V Queen on tour

As well as heading up the Queen Extravaganza Roger Taylor has said that Queen may tour next year.
If this is the case, doesn't it strike anyone as odd that Queen would go out as competition to their own tribute show.
Surely in the present economic climate, people will hold off buying Extravaganza tickets in favor of seeing "the real" Band live. Or even buy the cheaper Extravaganza Tickets and not the Queen tickets. Either way not everyone will be able to afford both, and someone will lose out.

The Queen Extravaganza is a North America only project for the moment. If  "Queen" goes on tour in 2012, it's doubtful they will come to  the states.

The whole "extravaganza" thing sounds fruity to me... but hey... they did have guitar/vocal "EXTRAVAGANCE" courtesy of ...etc. on albums.

I'll probably go just for kicks.

I think the "Queen Extravaganza" is just a thing so Brian and Roger don't have to tour in America.

on the contrary...

I see it as a marketing ploy to get more north americans into Queen... boost sales, exposure, legacy, etc... and in doing so create demand so that they go tour North America and get higher ticket sales in larger venues.

and what a fantastic way to do it... not only do they get to choose who'll portray them, but this form of advertising will likely come free as part of the proceeds from ticket sales will partially go to them

in any way you put it, it's a win-win-win situation for Queen... their choice picks in the project was an insurance so that Queen fans would be enthusiastic about the show and snatch up tickets.

Obviously, Queen would tour after the Extravaganza tour makes begins in LA and ends in the East Coast.

It's very smart and very Queen.

I see your point, I hope it does just that.  i never understood why they're are less Queen fans here in North America than anywhere else.  I can't imagine it being on a kind of the I Want to Break Free video, that's just dumb.  I tried looking for a Queen fan club here and there isn't an offical fan club in America, is that possible?

Maybe Queen can support the Queen Extravaganza.

They've added Yvan Pedneault (the lead from Toronto's We Will Rock You) and Jeff Scott Soto to the lineup.

I guess the auditions didn't go as well as they were hoping.. ? Either way, the vocal department will be in good hands now.

With the ticket prices i've seen so far there will be nobody at these shows.$60 and $30 dollars a ticket.I paid less to see QPR.

Maybe they should switch singers between QE and the actual band

Yes I'm sure a Queen tribute band will do wonders for the real band. A silly tribute tour that only Queen fans will know about. Delusional!

Really?? I paid $200 for QPR, and that was face value. $30/$60 is pretty cheap these days for live shows, other than local bands in a bar. It is not cheap to tour these days, especially with extra lighting/production as they are touting (of course, we'll see just how big it really is!). But that's actually a pretty reasonable price.

As to whether or not this will be well attended, there are other factors at work there, but I don't think that price alone will scare away too many Queen fans if they're looking for a good Queen related live show.

They're playing an hour from me. I'll pass on this. I'd rather see One Night Of Queen.

$200 was the face for many shows on the QPR tour.But that wasn't what the tickets went for on ebay and stubhub.I sat front floor at the meadowlands for $50 each and in Buffalo for $30.I live on long island.We have an amazing queen tribute called Almost Queen around here.They play bars for $10-$20 dollars and plenty of long island festivals in the summer for free.I just think there is no way in the USA that people will pay $60 dollars for a Queen tribute band.

They just added Jeff Scott Soto to the Extravaganza so i think they saw it was going to need help.

I just wish Brian And Roger would go on a nice small tour like this.Take someone like Jeff Scott Soto with them and play for the fans.Don't try to fill arenas.Just go out there and play for the fun of it.I know it's never going to happen but its nice to dream.
