Freddie used a Shure Unisphere U565SD until Live aid, then the same mic was used at the piano during the magic tour. The other band members seemed to be using SM58's. As for the Freddie's wireless mic I have no idea but would assume it was also Shure.

Freddie never used Sony mics (Didn't knew that the made mics anyway) He used mostly AKG in the studio (C412/C414) And live he was a fan of the Shure Unisphere 565SD (I've got the same mic, and it sounds FABULOUS)

He did use a Sony (wireless) for Magic tour. Peter Hince confirmed this in his book, because he was in charge of his Mics. And had the Shure's on his Piano. And backup wired Shure in case the wireless failed. Peter also said in a interview The sony's were too big to fit on the standard Shure microphone stand holder. So he had a custom holder made on the original stand, from what I remember. And he said Freddie hated the size of it, but it gave him much more freedom on the stage. (magic tour was the first use of a wireless for Freddie) .

^^^^ yes, during the Hot Space European dates he used both, sometimes alternating mid show.
