Van Halen will mark their 40th in 2012 with a tour to include original singer David Lee Roth. Both Roth and Eddie Van Halen are original members. Tickets go on sale Jan 10th. The new tour is fueling talk of a possible album

They'd better make sure there's a padlock on the minibar this time.

Is Michael Anthony included in this "original" reunion lineup or do we get to feel sorry for Eddie's kid again?

Yeah!
Any way the wind blows...

I saw them in 2007, they did a pretty good show. Can't wait to hear the new album they've been working on!

Well, much to my surprise (because I thought Diamond Dave and Fast Eddie would never reconcile), this is their new song:

Pretty average though, until Eddie's solo at 2:30 when the years just roll away and I'm 18 again. Ace.

Ha ha ha!  That was fun to watch.  There were bits of that that were right on the money.

I wonder what drives these again and again and again reunions.  I wonder if it's opportunity (they'll hit a million views in no time, in no small part precisely because of DLR and his on again off again-ness), or nostalgia perhaps not too different than what fans feel,  or something like inevitability a la Sunshine of the Spotless Mind without the amnesia.

Dave looks a bit like Steve Martin.

I'll be honest. I love rock music (duh), I love guitar players (sometimes more so than vocalists), and I loved EVH's solo in Beat It. But, I was never able to get into Van Halen. I don't want take away from anyone's interest in the reunion, but while I usually like a few songs from a lot of groups, I just can't seem to get into Van Halen. Just my two cents worth.

Actually... it's the cash.   Knowing that you're probably not going to make this kind of money ever again, so better stock up now.  Brian May would certainly know a little bit about this.

Wow, that new song sucks.   But I haven't been able to get to the 2:30 mark yet, so maybe there's hope at the end.

"Sexy Dragon Magic"?

Ok... no more Which Queen Lyrics suck? threads.

I would like to go to this reunite tour. I bet you the tickets will be sky high though.

Yes, thanks to Eddie.   Although I finally did make it to the 2:30 mark, I still have no way of getting those 2½ minutes of my life back.  Thanks Dave.  Sexy Dragon Magic.
