Anyoneelse here ever get a chance to see one of her live performances?
Much like most of the old time greats, few of them have been recorded (well)
She was magnificent, raunchy and hilarious... even at 70 when i saw her at the Bowl. It's sad to know she's gone, but it's comforting that at least the struggle is over. Such a fantastic singer. Incredible voice.
Like most old people, i'm sure she wouldn't have appreciated the euphemism "passes on"... she probably woulda suggested it was likened to passing gas.
I still haven't seen the video performance in full. Etta's family requested Christina sing it, so... all the best to her too. She's an entertainer... sometimes songwriter... i dont have to like her style, but she does what she does
