Maybe you should join a "Godfathers of sound engineering"-forum for discussions like this dear horse feathers. This is a place for sharing AMATEUR recordings. I have no doubt that you've been to some 1984 shows but as you wrote you cleaned up some works stuff and the works concerts were indoor shows as far as I know! Or did you work on the studio recordings?

Come on "People On Streets".
There's no need to get so aggressive and Paul DID explain himself.

Yes. And still he's talking crap like:
"I suggest you get that book, 'How to read'. You may take on board what people are actually saying then, instead of trying to pick holes, to look clever."
If you ask me HE is the one trying to pick holes to look clever.
What is he doing here in a topic where a great RT solo show is being shared in FLAC saying all those recordings are crap? No wonder tapers don't like to share their recordings...

As a professional studio engineer myself, I have to respectfully disagree."Digital is too pure and cold."^ that is an opinion, not a fact. The analog vs digital debate will forever go on. But that really isn't what we're talking about here.Lossless means maintaining what was created in the original transfer to digital - regardless of its source. FLAC is WAV, just compressed to about half the size but maintaining the quality. Mp3 removes certain frequencies, whereas FLAC retains them all. It's like WinZip - you can go back and forth as many times as you want. The original WAV file will remain intact. Even the file date and time will revert back to its original creation date after the FLAC is decoded to WAV.It doesn't matter if it's a pristine studio recording or a live recording done in someone's pocket 40 years ago in the back row of an arena. The point of FLAC is to preserve what is there, however much or little. No matter the recording or source - convert the WAV to mp3 and quality is irreversibly lost. Any bitrate below 160 kbps will even be audible to most ears.Every online collecting community for old concert recordings uses FLAC as its primary format. What alternative would you suggest?[/QUOTE]
Well said.

Actually I did spend two months' of salary at that time to go on this tour from Hungary, travel around, book hotels, buy equipment and record this "crap", which roughly would be 2000 eur in todays money, inflation corrected. I was under extreme stress when recording these (even you can hear Roger at one time spotting me and making fun...) .
Just to give an idea to horsefeathers, "sound engineer". I can assure you the masters are far from crap, in fact this x gen copy sounds a lot worse than the originals (even though at that time i gave away 1st gen CD copies without trade restrictions...). Sorry to sound like an smartass (which i am probably, as most will agree haha) , but your remarks about flac and not flac and the quality of recordings indeed made me annoyed!
my addition to this topic now. Please dont do the usual stuff of QZ messages , ie no need for thanking me, calling me a hoarder, begging, threatening , promising instant death etc etc. Thats something i can add now, one day everything will all be public domain.

Seriously. Do people here REALLY call you a hoarder if you do something that 99.9+% of folks don't have the balls to do and take the risk of making either a video or audio recording of a concert?
I call you an absolute star for doing it and you SHOULD be thanked :)
