Kid Rock is really good at tapping into the particular sensibilities of people who live their lives in a kind of gritty, straightforward way who go well beyond hillbillies and idiots. Music doesn't have to be high brow or completely new to resonate. I would have liked to hear this cover a little faster than it was performed, but kudos to him for the good taste in giving a nod to Queen.

That's essentially why I posted it. I was looking at a guitar tutorial on Youtube and much to my surprise this was one of the links. It's amazing how many artists now cite Queen as an influence, especially as that kind of recognition was largely absent while Queen were at their peak. Muscians liked them but very few cited them as an inspiration. That's all changed.

Has he covered a song called 'Fat Bottom Girls'??

Don't know it myself - perhaps it was a song like 'It's A Kind of Magic' and recorded by that 'Freddy Mercury' chap that half the people here keep going on about.....

I agree 100%.

But he still sucks.

Not a fan really, though I've got a soft spot for "Born Free". I just get the vibe he's trying for and understand exactly why it appeals. He's one of those artists with that unmistakable American sound that's contributed so much to music. He's a lightweight, but I like what he tries to represent, with occasional success.

He hasn't been the same since he stopped collaborating with that little guy out of Austin Powers ... ;)
