We are hosting a FREE concert this Sunday featuring, Marc Martel, the singer picked by members of Queen to perform lead for the Queen touring band.

Though no one will ever be Freddie Mercury, many believe that Marc Martel is as close as it comes. I believe Freddie would be very proud of their pick!

Here are the concert details. Sunday Night: 6 PM at Chestnut Assembly Auditorium, 2554 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, New Jersey - This event is sponsored by LIFT FM, a radio station I own.

Our goal is to give something good back to the world! Enjoy the concert, meet with Marc Martel and get his autograph. It's all free!

Wow.  They're taking "love offerings"...   This could get very interesting.

Just to clarify... the is the Chestnut Assembly OF GOD Auditorium.  I don't think they'll be playing Body Language.

Really? If Freddie would still be alive, he'd approve of a tribute band?

When Brian and Roger said that about Paul Rodgers, at least Paul was a fellow professional with street cred, so it was at least somewhat believable.

Yet you're online with Adam Lambert, fronting what is in reality, a tribute/nostalgia band? I don't see the difference to be honest, and considering your (correct) comment about Chicago in the 80s versus the 70s, that touches on the whole Adam Lambert or Paul Rodgers or anyone debate: who or what do you believe Queen is?

Ahem...

"That's very narrow minded"

"You are living in the past"

And so on ...
"Queen is the only band in the world that can play so heavily that your nose bleeds, then offer a silk handkerchief to clean up with."

I'm not "online" per se with the AL thing. I just understand why they're doing it - to bring Queen's music to the next generation. And I acknowledge their right to do what they want with their music, since it's theirs and not mine.

Queen is whatever they want it to be. And any band who loses a member is whatever they want it to be. They're not suddenly required to change their name to appease some people in their fanbase because their musical direction is changing in one way or another.

I made my statement in the Chicago thread saying it wasn't Chicago not because of the lack of Terry Kath, but because it was such horrible pop trite that bore no resemblance to the great Chicago of the first eight records... or even X, minus If You Leave Me Now of course.

Fair enough. I agree with that sentiment, and what they're doing now musically doesn't hold a candle to their live 70s rock era so for me it's sort of the pop tripe you speak of with Chicago in the 80s.

Fair play. Although it remains possible that the setlist may contain tunes Queen haven't played since the 70s. So I just think it's best we don't jump to judgment too quickly.

But if and when the setlist is the same as the QPR tours, I'll be the first one to say "this sucks."

Furthermore, I may even jump on the "Queen have been more or less creatively bankrupt since Mercury's death" bandwagon as well.

So we wait.

Really? I think he's charging too much. Couldn't resist.

No, actually I like the guy. He has a great voice and seems like a cool guy
