Wow. That's a first.
So you like them AFTER their drummer lost his arm better?

No
only that the records of those years are very good
I saw Def Leppard on the "Hysteria" tour.
I wasn't impressed. Joe Elliot's voice
is terrible.

They're fuckin' awful.
I saw them, if I recall correctly, in 1988 on the Hysteria tour. They had a huge curtain which dropped down just as the show started, which was rather cool. They put on a great show. They make melodic and interesting rock songs, and have two good guitarists who complement eachother (or at least they did!). They are let down a little by Joe Elliot who isn't a great or interesting singer. In later years they did a great cover of Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. Some nice pics of them with Brian: http://www.google.co.uk/url?source=imglanding&ct=img&q=http://a1.ec-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/127/fa617824dad298dd70a06a9edcdc2e11/l.jpg&sa=X&ei=bbt6T7DJDsWu8APAzfnBCA&ved=0CAsQ8wc4Cg&usg=AFQjCNF5VD9Gj1sQupNBbMS_zfhNJZJ56w

he's really creaming his pants at the thought of the album that follows Phil Collen's "fingers in bailing machine accident"
and Joe Elliot's "fight with a bear, that results in said bear ripping out his vocal chords"
...on second thoughts, the album after the Elliot accident could be quite interesting
"My discovery in tribute to Freddie"
Please quantify this very strange sentence.

He's right though..

we all have our own benchmarks/standards in life
it's how we form personal opinions on what's good or bad....music is no exception
however, i really can't work out what weird sliding scale puts Joe Elliot (average a singer that he is) BELOW Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons as a vocalist?
unless JPF "likes" singers in some kind of reverse order...that being the case, the top of his list must be outstandingly bad

Really? Because they lip-synched a lot of the tracks on that tour. I thought they did a pretty good job f-f-foolingeverybody.
one of many bands i refuse to listen to
I think they're ok.
