Why are CD's (or albums) from British bands so delayed for North America? (Please don't reply with bashes on the colonies/states; my intent is not to start a flame war here).
Is it because of the different music labels, to build suspense or the lack of potential sales?

It's to test the market. If it sells really well in the UK, the label is bound to put more money in the US promotion.
