Wonderful items you got there, Queenfan!

Thefallenqueen, I totally agree with your post, except for Freddie never signing FMercury unless on contracts (he actually signed that way in the very last part of his life, most notably on Innuendo award letters) and not dating his autographs (I've actually seen quite a number of dated signatures by him that I consider to be completely genuine). Also I've seen many autographs from him accompanied by a "best wishes" or "love and kisses".

I'm still confused about the Love Kills though... I appreciate your input, and the piece is sold by Markus Brandes, one of the few TOTALLY reliable autographs sellers on the net (isitreal.com). Probably I just don't like it very much... :-p

Oh, here comes another piece of junk: http://www.ebay.com/itm/QUEEN-SHEER-HEART-ATTACK-EMC-3061-SIGNED-BY-ALL-FOUR-1974-PLUS-COA-/310400638053?pt=UK_Records&hash=item484551dc65[/url]

I don't want to start a discussion on the Innuendo awards as I know that they are rated genuine by most reliable collectors and I don't know the story behind them. But I wouldn't ever buy them as all four autographs do not look typical for that time - though none really looks fake. I simply don't like them - especially for this ridiculous prices! Still I'm convinced that Freddie never signed FMercury on usual stuff but on contracts and his last will. Don't know why he should have changed this for these dubious awards. There are many beautiful Freddie autographs known from Innuendo poster - they do look different. And of course Best wishes was also used by Freddie but more frequently by John...

No need to start a discussion at all, every collector or fan will have his own preferences, especially when it comes to such personal and emotional items as autographs are.

Personally I simply love these very late autographed pieces of memorabilia. No doubt they're absolutely genuine and there are two possible explanations for Freddie signing FMercury, in my humble opinion.

1- Because in the very last period of his life (few months) he simply felt so. These FMercuy signatures are even later (around June 1991) than the wonderful Innuendo posters, where he would still sign as usual.

2- Because he perceived these letters more as official documents to be signed (like formal contracts) than "items" to be autographed. After all, the letters weren't meant to go public, they were supposed to stay within the music industry I guess, being official RIAA awards presented to radio stations throughout the US that, by airing Innuendo made it a gold record. Innuendo posters instead were more a promotional items, supposed to reach the public as well, hence he choose to sign with his whole name.

Here you can find an insiders' brief history regarding these kind of items: http://www.queenmuseum.com/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=255

Anyway, if I'd have to choose, I wouldn't wait a second to pick any Innuendo fully signed poster instead of a signed letter+RIAA award.

Cheers,

Marco
