It wasn't just revisions in the last 6-9 months, but throughout their whole career.
We were still working on the content right up to about three weeks before the convention, so suddenly had a rush on after leisurely spending years on it at a more convenient pace.

The FC are dodgy. Jacky 'sat' on my Wembley tickets in 86. Back in the day there was no internet it was a cheque or po. I waited nearly two months and ended up having to send my cousin (who lived in London) to the fc offices to get the four tickets I had ordered. This was after numerous phone calls, claims they had been lost in the post and other bs.
"Give it to me one more time!"

The FC isn't dodgy, but sometimes Jacky does (or certainly did at the height of membership and activity, which '86 was) bite off more than she could chew, and mostly without any help from the band, their management or publicists.

Its a shame the convention date was only made public 3 weeks before it actually happened....... :/

Well I do have other work and projects to take up my time, not just this booklet.

Yeah, be fair to Gary - if he has other work on you can't expect this book (almost 25 years in the making) to be at totally accurate and produced on time ;-)

I'm surprised Gary replies to all of this. Geez. Don't buy the book if you have so many problems!

I enjoy reading everyone's opinions about stuff on here, but wow...so much negativity!

Well I'm actually excited about it and might actually purchase it...may I ask about "The Cosmos Rocks World Tour" I thought it went into 2009?

No, just 2008. The final date was in Brazil on 29 November in Rio de Janeiro at the HSBC Arena.

"It then took graphic designer Christoph Von Herrath months to design and lay out the text"
Hmmm..are you sure? I only ask because in some places the song titles are in UPPER CASE and in others in Upper and Lower Case.
I can't find any info on size or page count but from the pics above I'm guessing at A5 and about 112 pages tops
A design studio operative could type out the text in a day or two in Word. That file would then be flown into In-Design or Quark and a the layout done in a day.
I'm sorry but "months" is bollocks. I work in the industry.
And when I get back to work next week I'll run out a quote for print run of 1,000.
I think you'll find your printer has ripped you off or the uplift put on it is ridiculous.
It took many months because of the constant additions and corrections that were being thrown Christoph's way.
Yes it is A5 format.
Yes please, could you get me a quote on 1,000 copies with each booklet containing 104 pages on glossy paper, with a front and back cover in colour and on glossy also. We might have something else in mind.
Many thanks.
You actually proof read the final draft? Blimey, there's a first!
And you didn't then print one or two copies of the final version and proof read those again before printing 1,000's of them? I've used the word 'amateurs' too many times with every release recently that it's becoming boring...
Once all the work had been done it was in Jacky's and the printers control. There wouldn't of been time to proof read a finished copy as they had to be at the convention asap. In fact they arrived on the Saturday morning, the second day of the convention.
Wouldn't OF is one of the most annoying things in the world =_=

Thank you, Gary(^^)/

Well said tomchristie22 - that wouldn't HAVE got through with a proof read! ;-)

Thank you for responding and clarifying some things for me! I TOTALLY forget that the tour was only around the release date of latest studio l.p. by Queen. I am pretty sure I will be purchasing this soon. Thank you!

Gary, a simple question, albums and compilations released outside the UK (as the two CDs Queen Collection, released exclusively in Brazil by EMI / Globo) were covered in the book?

Thanks :)

PS: Saving my money to buy this book :)
