So I was arguing with someone about the lyrics to Save Me. Whenever I hear the lyrics to the song, I hear the chorus go "Save, save, saaaave me," but my brother swears it says "Save me, save me, saaaaave me." I've never heard it like that, and still don't hear those extra "me"s. Then, we went to a lyrics site, and it says "Save me, save me, save me," so my brother was right, according to that. Yet, I still just hear it like, "Save, save, saaaaave me."

Am I delusional, or is something just messed up? Anyone have any information?

I used to hear it the way you hear it until I started listening to live albums. It's way clearer there.
Any way the wind blows...

I'm with your brother there I'm afraid - it's clear, at least to my ears, that they sing the 'me' each time

It's 'save me save me saaaave meeee'. You can see Freddie mouthing 'me' on the video and singing the line on every live version. The iterations of the word 'save' are much more noticeable than the word 'me' because the composer (Brian) assigned a higher note to 'save', which also happens to be on the downbeat, creating the impression that 'save' is much louder, to the point that a lot of people may not even notice the word 'me'. The instrumentation also interferes with 'me' being more audible.

Sometimes that tends to happen, as there are many things mixed, some of them may eclipse others. One of the most famous examples is Beatles' 'Come Together', where John actually sings 'shoot me', but the 'me' is hardly audible because of other things going on at the same time. Seems like 'me' is an unlucky word again :)
John hated Hot Space. Frederick's favourite singer was not Paul Rodgers. Roger didn't compose 'Innuendo.' 'Bohemian Rhapsody' hasn't got 180 vocal overdubs.

Ok, thanks. I've listened to the song several times recently and still can't hear the "me," but whatever, I believe you guys. Guess I am delusional after all.

Your brother is right for sure! It's save me, save me, saaaave me... that's what I hear.

I listened to the CD for years and always heard "save save saaaaaave me" but after having it pointed out here then looking up the YT video, I can now hear "save me, save me, saaaaaave me." Yay!

waunakonor, check out one of the concert vids. It's REALLY obvious there:

Well, good to know I'm not alone in having heard it without the me at first. Guess I'm not THAT delusional.

Yeah, it is 'me'. It's easy to hear otherwise though.

Speaking of misheard lyrics, while watching concert videos on YouTube, I just realized that in Radio Ga Ga, he sometimes says "radio blah blah" instead of "radio ga ga"... DUH.
