I have not read the script
I have seen a few films of the hoped for director- he has made some good films
the screenwriters wrote nixon i have seen that its a bio obviously, they have written other bios also ( ALI), so they can write biographies.
But a musician biography is diffrent from a poltical one, they are more like Stephen Frears the Queen, Which was scripted by Peter Morgan,who did the first draft of the freddie bio- which i thought it was ok, and used symbols to talk about Diana being murdered, but it was not very obvious.
It also used stock footage which should NOT BE USED IN THE FREDDIE MOVIE.
Stephen Frears has done period set films such as prick up your ears, which really caught a look of the sixties london very well.
How that would translate to working on digital though i dont know, as the whole look i think is different than film, it is devoid of real atmosphere, all looks the same.
I think they should use real film and back up to digital. Anyway, nothing should look false, they should recreate, use actual stadiums and real audiences, i am sure they could fill them, especially in south america etc and london, as wembley was not that big only what 60 thousand,? 72 ,00 actually just looked it up- .
but please dont use cgi for audiances.
But he Stephen Freasrs directed that story -JOE ORTONS BIO- very well, and not just made it look good, it was put together very well, the story.
The approach should be like they are making Ben Hur, DONT CUT CORNERS.

THE WHOLE SENTIMENT OF THAT SONG IS LIKE A WORD OF WISDOM TO QUEEN ABOUT ITSELF
CONCERNING THIS MOVIE
It could become their finest hour (posthumously)

People grumble they never got a chance to see them live, the use of the magic of cinema is the one medium that could really capture that for people and let them experience it on many levels, notably, aswell as the actual rock music, also an artistic expression of emotion can be created, this is tangible and can be experienced if you look and listen at the very end of my special edition video, where i set live footage of Queens run up to their last stand basically, to John Barry's out of africa theme.

It works perfectly , i defy anyone not to be moved, even to tears.

Here are some ideas i had
OK New Opening idea
(The PARIS THING CAN STILL BE USED LATER IN THE MOVIE)
Scene
Liverpool night time rainy backstreet of club
cobble backstreet scene
opens from arial view down into bleack cobbled wet alleyway
almost looks like its lit by gaslight very gloomy
dim distant sound of uproarous applause and foot banging and audience CYRING for more more etc
with lude remarks scattered also
otherwise very quiet
with intermitent sound cuts to backstreet with this quiet
with sound of rain hitting metal bins
and pouring from gutters into drains
1970's liverpool past midnight
cut
to back exit door on the gloomy street
more applause and thuddding of stamping feet
etc moar moar
still on door itself
backdoor of club
when we then HEAR sound of Freddie voice over audience
him replying to audience
saying "
thankyou my dearies ..." etc etc in outrageous manner
etcetc
"we are goint to leave you with......." etcetc
NOTE
Just see the door during all this
then-
cut to
inside very dark of behind stage left
behind a dark curtain as man rushes through and to Freddie
we only see back of freddie and he wispers message into freddie ear
("we got trouble out front ,and they are making there way to the back, you may want get off now and quick IF you want to avoid it we got no back up here! but I advise....ETCETC")
So Freddie says something outrageously dirty to audience about what man said,
And says
"goodnight my lovelies"
or something to that affect audience goes bannanas and booing "no no no "more" more" etc!!
He then quickly leaves the stage fully dressed in outrragous black costume , eyes painted, black nails etc long amazing dark hiar and he is whisked through back corridoor with Brian Roger and John.
Roger all the while urgently talking to tour manager as they hurriendly WALK VERY QUCKLY (they ARE up infront).
Freddie lagging behind is moaning about it all , saying this is "This is outrageous ! we didnt finish the show " etc
cut
meanwhile we then go outside and we see a gang of thugs
feet RUNNING ON COBBLES
marching down alley towards the exit door
As rain pours ,
THE GANG OF 5 OR 6 uttering curses about bloody queers etc etc
THEY ARE holding bars in hands as they walk up towards the backdoor of the club and towards two vans parked up.
CUT
one for the bands equipment which is still on the stage and another for the band members driven by Brian
or Roger or John usually .
Three sit in front with Freddie in the back .
The back of the bands van is decked out with a luxurious red velvet decor and very exotic furnishings , virtually a mini home from home, that could also double up as a dressing room
(could show indian influencs wall beads etcetc)

next scene

Roger and bulky tour manager burst through the back door !!
making way for Freddie Brian a John to come after them,
John joins Roger and the bulky tour man
to confront the thugs
who scream out
"There they !!
are get Em!!"
As they kick over empty bottleracks
and rubish bins making noise
THEMUSIC STARTS

THE IMMIGRANT SONG BY LED ZEPELEIN

which basically acompanies the fight scene and the comical aspect of it all.

One rubbish bin the lid of which Roger picks up
and starts bashing one of the assailants who are now right at them face to face
screaming obscenities and spittingly vicious (we see one is brandishing a knife)
Roger is holding the metal lid he picked up , he is holding it like a shield and procceeds to beat the knife holder round the head with it kicking him flying hard to the wet cobbled ground ,
blood flowing and IMMIGRANT SONG MUSIC ROCKING
John and tour man lay into the gang of fiveor 6 thugs, punching into guts etc and face
fists flying etcetc
Meanwhile Brian is helping Freddie into his luxury boudoir .
Freddy is laughing his head off but moaning about breaking one of his nails , as he settles down inside the safety of his luxurious travelling quarters.
The thugs are deterred by Roger, Johns and the tour guys strong and violent resistance, and they run off bloody and worse for their efforts out of the alley.
As Roger and John clamber into the van .
Freddie screeches
"Roger i broke one of my nails !!"
Brian who already had the engine roaring after making sure freddie was comfortable speeds off as the tour man goes back into through the open club door to get the roadies who had been grouped peeping through the clubs toilet window onto the scene of the fight growling at them to start loading the bands Equipment
a comical take on the story of the brawl Roger recounted happened in liverpool
set to led zepellin's
immigrant song music

A Suitable vehicle and a good way of opening the first queen live as QUEEN
Next you could show
THE VAN ON MOTERWAY HEADING BACK TO LONDON
Where you start your central plot story
of the meteric RISE
Showing all members living together in dingy flat
then later

working and working
SOHO SCENES GOOD CINEMA RECREATION OF THAT LOST PART OF LONDON ETC

but managers steal money

enter john reid etc

Also after change

featuring Freddies home life in first flat

And band members life as contrast

showng a kindo if unfillfillment of Freddie as opposed to they with families.

but freddie is in love with Mary Austin but there is that tension before he accepts he is not going to be able to stay with Mary in a conventinal way etc

also song ideas made at home etc
studio recordings
TV appearences frictions etc etc

rise up the charts with each various early seventies hit Killer Queen

(THIS WILL LOOK GOOD CINEMATICALLY AS IT WAS SNOWING AND LARGE FOREST AND BIG HOUSE LIFSTLYE OF ROCK STAR ETC )
Roger could show the band his cars etcetc i think artistic licence is a must
painted over and around the basic truths as a framework of plot .


(End the 1970's era with my paris 79 SCENE)


THEN TO 80'S
and massive south american tours

make Freddie like LIKE EVA PERON TO SOUTH AMERICAN AUIDIENCES


until the eighties came then

FRICTIONS HOT SPACE

FREDDIES ASSISTENT


TAKING QUEEN IN NEW DIRECTIONS GAY DISCO ETC

but you make it interesting by showing
Freddies personal life and personal ambitions musically
and bands friction with both

also make it interesting for viewers

by making it as though though they were able to walk around behind FREDDIE seeing everything he did
everyone he met,
where he went,
showbizz friends etc etc
IBIZA ISLAND PARRTIES ETC


NEW YORK - MUNICH life style

people he broke frienships with etc

conversations band music,

lifestyle frictions etcetc

and how they all keep coming back to queen inspite of these frictions and recording

until the LIVE AID


and the PUSH AT THEM TO DO IT

when they feel almost like spltting up

HOW THEY DO, AND GET THE NEW ZEST FROM ITS WORLDWIDE SUCCESS

And they then make another album and embark on their biggest ever tour, going into eastern europe and ending at knebworth.

to student early years,(Jeremy Kapone) Freddie on outside plotting his getting in TO BOTH ENGLISH CULTURE ROCK MUSIC AND HIS DRIVE TO BE A STAR SOMEHOW.

glamerous eventhen , looking like and acting like star,
Freddie as a student early flings with bands
- make liverpool connection clear

intercut humourously with the fact Frddie and Brian lived right near eachother

show brian and roger- USE CORNWALL BREATHTAKING ENGLISH LANSCAPE AND SEA CRASHING ETC

Show Bri and rog famously getting together via university advert etc then

Then bring the two pararrels Fred and Brian - who lived near eachother
coming together
through mutual freinds discovery.

around same time show brian & mary austin and freddie at some party etc
Freddie gets Mary


Then Freddie watching from wings as Brian and Roger try with smile

then HIS taking over and organising Brian and Roger naming band QUEEN etc

then Finding Joseph Gordon (john) then sort of to my above early concerts in liverpool etc
to infinity and beyond

And we are off into the adventure

AS it began
