I was daydreaming the other day and remembered how the Radio dude asks Freddie 'How do you go about asking Aretha Franklin to do something with you?' 'Do you just pick up the phone?'
Freddie doesn't answer directly but carries on his own daydream about working with Aretha !

I wonder if, in the brief years that followed, if he considered 'picking up the phone' or if Aretha heard about his keenness?
Anyone that owns Aretha's Amazing Grace album, can clearly see how that influenced some of Fred phrasing, especially in Somebody To Love - great stuff to link together.

I also wonder who the hell Deacon was talking about as his Bass inspiration? the Cracker ?????

Deacon quoted Hugh McCracken who played as Steely Dan's bassist as well as session work in the 60's and 70s.

Probably the most interesting Queen interview out there.

It's heartbreaking hearing the band try and nudge Freddie into touring, and Freddie scrambling around for excuses as to why not. It's quite apparent he hadn't told the band by this point, I wonder if he left it much longer afterwards.
